Hello everyone. It's been a while since I have updated.
My season is on hold at the moment, atleast until I gain a little bit of my health back. My body has just been completely bombarded with injuries. It seems like it's one thing after another. I have a doctor's appointment next Wednesday, which will most likely determine whether I am out for another week, or another month. I am hoping for the best.
My season is sitting at 8-9 right now. I lost two matches this year due to loss of bloodtime. I have to get my nose cauterized before I start wrestling again. I was wrestling a few weeks ago and my opponent blatantly took a shot to my face. I didn't bother to get my nose checked out to see if it was broken, which might not have been the smartest thing, because it's been bleeding (badly) ever since.
At the start of Addison Trail's season, I would say we looked strong. We have a new assistant coach this year, Tony Cirrincione, whom I consider a huge help, especially on the individual basis. We had a lot of problems with kids quitting, and as a team, we suffered from that.
In other news, I am most likely moving up to Marquette, MI directly after the season to carry out my Olympic dreams. The USOEC has offered me training and housing, along with being able to finish up high school and later go on to college at NMU up there. By moving to Marquette I will be training with the OEC women's freestyle team and coaches Shannon Gillespie and Tony DeAnda. I will also be able to properly care for my injuries with a training room that I will have access to every day.
I think this is a step in the right direction. Wrestling with the boys has helped me a lot. It is a tougher atmosphere, much more physically demanding. But that takes a massive toll on the body. Wrestling with women will deflect that, for the most part. I will be able to work on my technique, which is what I seem to need to improve on most.
This year I will begin wrestling in the Senior national competition, such as Vegas, Body Bar, and also the Olympic Team Trials, as well as the Junior competitions, too. I need to prepare a lot more in freestyle if I expect to place in Seniors, which I do. I also need to be in top physical condition, and not be weighed down by nagging injuries.
Well, so much for a brief update. If you have any questions, I'll be sure to answer them.
Good luck with the rest of your season, coaches and wrestlers!
