North Is the Cubs...South is the Sox...

Hey Cubs84, believe me, whoever buys the cubs they will build a new stadium...People will be upset, but they still will go, and the new stadium will be RIDICULOUS(In Size, Will be the nicest park in the big leagues, 1st Billion dollar stadium)!!!

you are correct they will go depending on where it is. If its in Rosemont Im out. Now if they get smart and put it in say Bartlett or St charles Ill buy seasons tickets ya know. I thought it was funny that Mayor daley said that if they move to the suburbs they cant be called the Chicago Cubs anymore. Like its totally his call and like anyone in MLB cares. They wont just redo the logo and change the name and market new stuff to the millions of fans and make more $$$$ than ever. I dont care if theyre the Schaumburg Cubs if they win

Seriously, Anyone ever hear of the saying............"that comment came from left field?"??????????????

I was reading that the Sox played at West Side Park before the OLD Comiskey was built. They won the championship there in like 1906.

Well, It was situated where Uof I Chicago is. The psych ward was behind the left field bleachers. Of course there was no a/c, so windows open. The patiients would yell out outrageous statements. Thus the phrase, That came from left field.

I would hate to see them wreck Wrigley!!!!! I didn't want to see the old comiskey go either. And don't foreget, if the Cubs move to the burbs, it will be more convenient to park and such, but part of the draw for the cubs is the Park. Some people travel from around the country just to see it.

Sox are winning 1-0, but they sure are leaving a bunch on base.

I have been in the Wrigley Field dugouts and lockroom. The dugout is very, very narrow. It is so small two people can't stand up at the same time. Don't let it rain because they need Moses to part the sea. Now compared to Sox Park Dugouts that are built more along modern specs Wrigley is terrible. Same for the Locker Room. I think eventually they will tear down Wrigley. Yankee Stadium is coming down ..I think it's next year or the year after. Money will dictate that it must be changed. And that is a shame but it just doesn't work anymore.

I don't think they can tear it down, I thought it was marked as a historical site, but I could be mistaken. I for one would have no problem with a new stadium as long as there are no nose bleed seats like Comisky....I mean US Cellular field, I hate that name.

Yeah, your right I can see the mayor and all his cronies scrambling to enact a new ordinace allowing the destruction of historical markers for a price.:(

I'm not disagreeing Lock, but Wrigley is in need of some repair I know if I were a player in this day and age I would appreciate a new locker room.

Not from a players perspective. It suck's if you have to work there. I have been on the field, in the dugouts and in the locker room. It is 1920 all day. Dugouts so small I don't know how they got around in them in the '20's. I have seen better dugouts in the Chicago Park District fields. I am not saying this because I am a Sox fan but more as a baseball fan.

Yes it is a historical landmark. So is Soilder Field, so they kept the Collonaids and dropped the new millinium inside the 1900's Bowl. Interesting concept. I like the new field and not a bad seat in the house. I have worked the press box and it is fantastic. Like being in your living room. Wrigley is another story. Like being stuck in an elevator. Trust me, they will do something to modernize the place. They have to. It's stuck in a time warp.

I am not going to be so naive and say that money does not play a part - because it plays a large part. But history (and money) aside, Yankee Stadium is a dive and needed to be replaced. In some ways, it is sad because there is a ton of history - not just Yankee history, BASEBALL history. Nonetheless, in this day and age, it just does not fit the way we live.

Wrigley will / should / could make it because it is a far better place to attend a game. Then again, improvements are needed. The question is, are they coming?

This from a Sox fan ...

That does not count because the wall moved when the spaceship landed on it.

Seriously, is there a worse looking football stadium from the outside? If so, I would need to see pictures ...

Probably not. But everytime I walk into soldier field I just close my eyes and it magically gets better once I get inside. To be honest it is a great place to see a football game. I think with the decision to keep the old and mix it with the new they actually did a good job. The two materials (stone and steal) are not related but it beat the options of going to the burbs for a Bears game. They just belong on the lakefront.

Oh no doubt, it is great inside ... but driving up LSD and seeing it as you approach ... ouch.
