...Lou has not even made it to May much less the Cubbies favorite month August and he is snapping on reporters...bringing in some kid that was throwing 35 foot curve balls in the major leagues...to quote Lou when asked what was not working in reference to his moves during the game, "What the hell you think is not working, you see the damn game"...he is gonna make me rush to my sportscenter channel all summer to see what he says...he will be throwing bases by June...mark my words...LOL..Welcome to Dusty Bakers world...or was it Jim Riggleman's world...oh nevermind...

He'll wind up making Lee Elia look tame. I don't think anyone has forgotten the Elia tirade of 83'. That by far is the all time best.

Lou wil get the best from those guys. Its a matter of time before that line-up start rolling. His problem is the bullpen and when to use certain guys. That has always been lou's downfall as a manager.
Their getting good pitching right now with the exception of Ohman, but the changes will be made and you might see Marshall get called up to take his place.
Lou just needs to get adjusted to NL. Once that happens look out hes a proven winner. Unlike the managers of the past. If you disagree tell me who?
One thing I do not agree with is the team meeting thing. Your dealing with a lot of over paid players now a days sometimes a real good *** chewing humbles you and brings you back to reality and then you start focusing on the things that got you to the big leagues.
I hope he does start throwing bases in JUne, better yet I hope he throws them at Zambrano's head for thinking about being a hitter before thinking about what he needs to do to help this team win ballgames(HES A PITCHER).
They need to find more ways to get Matt Murton and Ryan Theriot in the games more these kids are special. Start benching these guys. Move Soriano down in the line-up for now even if its putting him a clean-up and moving Ramirez down a spot theres no protection there for him at the top. Which brings me back to Theriot this kid can bat lead off and doesn't strike out nearly as much as Soriano, plus he's capable of stealing 40 bases also.
To some it all up there are some things that need to ironed out and they will be remember its only April and when they start rolling its gonna be the weekend of May 18-20 when we are kicking the **** out of the Sox. You will see.

Everytime I see the news clip it reminds me of a milder version of Lee Elia, especially when sweet Lou says, "Now I know why they lose around here". Just wait Lou, just wait. I wonder if he has Dusty's phone number on his cell phone?

yeah Baker is laughing all the way to the bank with his new espn gig. But i for one dont miss him and his excuses and lack of discipline, but the Cubs situation is caused by a losing culture and it starts at the top. decisions over the years have been made based on business not winning. The whole operation needs an overhaul

You know the cubs are desperate when they have Quinn there singing the 7th inning stretch. Trying to pull in some fans?

Now why would you say that? That is one problem the cubs never have, the fans are eveywhere they go, now the White Sox's thats another story. Outside of the World Series I think the only time thier stadium is full is when they are playing the Cubs.;)

First of all Brady Quinn did not sing the national anthem. He threw out the first pitch and sang the seventh inning stretch.
As I stated in my previous post changes need to be made and today Lou did that. Today they worked out for him.
I believe that Theriot and Murton are many time all-stars in years to come. Today they proved what hustle will do for a team, and also proved to the veterans that their jobs are not neccessarily secure. I believe that Lou will adjust and this pitching staff is dynamite so far with the exception of Will Ohman.
I also think that the injury to Alfonso Soriano will play out great. I think that a couple days on the bench seeing the game from the outside will settle him down, and he will be able to get in the cages and make adjustments on his swing. Primarily in taking what the opposing pitchers are giving him. Him, Derek Lee, and Aramis Ramirez are best when they are hitting the ball the other way and finding the gaps. This then will force opposing pitchers to make mistakes on the middle in part of the plate and then their HR and RBI's will pop up. I think Derek has made the adjustment, Aramis is seeing the ball tremendously.
Again its only in due time that this team goes on a run. They responded to Pinella's tyrant and that will not be the only time he will have to do that. I also think that the major concern and only major concern is Will Ohman.
GO CUBBIES!!!!! Big series this weeknd with St. Louis and we must start that off on the right foot. In my eyes we look good, some glitches in the defense and in our swinging the bat but remember the season consists of 162 games not 2 weeks of baseball in 30-40 degree weather. Every team is struggling except the ones able to play in a dome. YOU WILL SEE.http://illinoismatmen.com/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

The only time the sox fans show up is when they play the cubs??? the had 2.9 million fans show to the park last season. I think that is roughly 35,000 plus a night.

Let me help everyone understand something the CUbs have the best problem any organization could have depth depth depth. They have planned well this year just in case of injuries they have kept their young kids around and now they are showing their talent when the opprtunity has risen.
Also let me say this I bet you guys wish you had one of the following after losing Pdsednik(AGAIN) for the next 2 months(I believe his career is done he never could stay healthy:
Felix Pie
Jacque Jones
Matt Murton
Or better yet Sammy Sosa who just hit a three run shot in the face of all those disrespectful fans who have no clue about baseball and all are still living the dream of 2005. The glory days are over and I PREDICT they finish behind Detroit, Minnesota, and Clevland.

I don't know...at least we have a dream to live...what dream do Cub fans live...1908...LOL...more on that later in the post...Sammy Sosa hit home runs but his team lost...just like when he was a Cubbie...loser and a quiter and a cheater...anyway... The Sox are winning and the Cubs are losing. And Lou looks like he needs a hug or a drink or maybe both. Didn't the whole team go on the DL today? And Prior lead the way. Release the guy and put him out of his misery. Doesn't he have a degree from Stanford? He can start his real life. ..so the cubs planned on the injuries...right...wait until next year is a plan to me...Meanwhile Sox are rolling along...beat Detroit 2 of 3 on the road...beat Oakland...now starting on KC...Mark threw a no hitter...Mark Buhlee that is not Mark Prior...don't want the Cubs fans confused...Soriano made his first apperance in left field today...is the centerfield experiment over officially...maybe he can concentrate on hitting the baseball...like Paul K. did tonight..two home runs...don't worry about Scotty Pods...Ernstadt is doing just fine..nice catch today too...Go Cubbies...first one to 100 year futility will be the little blue bicycle that couldn't...where the hell is Kerry Wood...he's no Bobby Jenks who is 7 fo 8 in save chances and it's not even May..can we say All Star...again...what does Lou drink...be honest now...you know they didn't tell Lou what he was getting into...did they...right about now he wish he was in the booth...at least there will be plenty of other drunk fans at Wrigley for Lou to fit in with...get the man a Harry Carey Bud special...oh my god...there's another Cubs game tomorrow...how many under .500 are they...let's pray...

That is too funny. I am a Cubs and I do hate the Sox, but the Sox are winning and we are losing no excuses here. Lou knows what he doing. That is with the exception of pitching to Pujols when the games on the line. Oh well hopefully we can get back on track tomrrow and turn this early part of the season around. I think within the NL Central if we just play .500 ball for a while we will be in the race when it counts and then hopefully and that is hopefully we can make a run. At the playoffs that is. I do know there is 162 games in a year. My issue is when is Derek Lee gonna start hitting when it counts. I do not care if he bats .600, the fact of the matter is he is our 3 hitter and does not have a hoerun yet. Cmon make the change there until he gets back on track. Maybe move him to the 2 spot and move Barett up to clean-up. He hit 4 hrs last week what else do they need to see.
Konerko has has 1 good game. Lets not jump on the band wagon just yet and oh yeah it was against KC. Your pitching staff is still shaky 3 guys do not make up the staff. They really tried to give this one away.

Well if anyone can turn the Cubs sinking ship around it is Sweet Lou...although I did think the same thing about Larry Bowa...there is a blast frm the past...where is his rant...I got to find that one...anyway..you are right...if they stay around .500 they can stay in the race...and yes Paulie did hit today...all hot bats have to start one day...send a copy of this post with a tape of paulie to Derek Lee...he is the real deal...the best player on the Cubbies...but he must produce in the clutch...especially when Z pitches..oh and speaking of 3 starters...that's more I can find on the Cubbies...z is lost...Hill is for real...and who else pitches for the Cubs...call Iowa right now...I see better pitching when I umpire UIC vs whoever or IIT vs Trinity Christian...at this point even Chicago State players could help...but you are right...it is a 162 game season...but they better get going because they have yet to concour the month of August...and all of those day games...Larry Bowa...Jim Riggleman...Popeye...Dusty...andnow Lou...is there a retirement home for old Cubbie coaches...

Well when the season started I sadi if we can get some innings from our starters we will be successful. But just the opposite has happened. We are pitching but not hitting. Yes Z is lost iI thought he turned it around tonight. Hill and Lilly have been lights out, especially Hill. Marquis has done tremndous things for us. Shoot he pinch hits when you need him he runs the bases when you need him. Wuertz has been great, as has Dumpster. We need Eyre and Howry to puick up their game soon, like right now. We have a couple other guys ready for the big leagues but no where t put them. Such as Guzman, Marshall, Marmol. All 3 of these guys can pitch. Heres what my line-up would look like:
1. Pie-CF-He can make things happen and has the speed needed for the top spot.
2. Lee-1B-he batted here when he was at Florida and when he first came to the cubs.
3. Aramis-3B-On FIRE
4. Barrett-One of the best hitting cachers in the game.
5. Soriano-LF-Putting him here would also protect Barrett and I believe this could be the most underated spot of the line-up in the big leagues. Alot of RBI opportunities
6. Jones-RF-He is a dangerous hitter against righties.
7. Theriot-2B-Hes special and has great speed, giving you more baserunning opportunities at the bottom
8. Cedeno/Izturis-SS-switching them up depending on pitchers that day. Both have an upside becasue they are so good defensively, and have rockets for arms. But both have trouble hitting. Cedeno does the small things better, adn might be a better option off the sench than Izturis.
Sign me up, there would be a slot on the local news evey night just waiting to see what kind of *** I made of myself that day.
The day games are the downfall, but thats what it is you cannot make excuses. This is baseball not horseshoes it doesn't matter how close you are ubntil you start winning the close one. And right now that has been the story. We've lost 9 games by 2 runs or less. The offense needs to wake up, and quit putting so much pressure in the bullpen day in and day out.

good post...can you email it to Sweet Lou...or just take it over to Harry Carey's...I saw him at the end of the bar, slurred speech and all singing to Dutchie 'it's one , two three strikes your out at the ole ball game...hey,hey let's get some runs"...what the ****...anyway it is early and contrarey to popular opinoin I don't hate the Cubs and I am pro Chicago however they can be so inept at times that it is hard to believe anything will work...I will start a poll in June if things are not better called "Who is the next manager of the Cubs"...I vote for Ryne Sandburg...good company man..brings in Santo, Williams, Dejesus and Banks as his coaches and Fergie too if he can pass the pee test...

Sandberg is going to be a good manager and I like the road he has decided to take to get there. I'm sure he could get al ot of guys to help him too. Dawson-hitting insructor, Sutcliffe-pitching coach, Dunston-fielding coach, and Erinie as his bench coach. Hopefully you don't have to start that post and hopefully its more like a post of "how long before they blow it" Becuse that means they are doing good.LOL

Okay its official the Cubs suck and I am not making anymore excuses for them better yet I refuse to even give them air time on my TV. That is until these bunch of overpaid idiots learn the game of baseball. Learn what it is to be clutch. They make every stinkin pitcher look like a Cy Young award winner. It absolutely disgust me. I am going to sacrafice a goat and hang it the enterance. They make it almost impossible to watch them and think that they are going to turn it around. So until the F the Cubs and F lou Pinella!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are we seeing that "cubby swagger" yet.
Great game game friday with the big comeback in the 9th ready to occur and Cedeno goofs up on his steal/walk to 2nd and squashes any chance of a rally.
Then, you've GOT to love Zambrano and his Cy Young caliber performance so far.....didn't he also promise a world series this year?
Classic!!
Check out the standings.
One other question-
I heard cub fans complaining about the wind at wrigley on sunday aiding the cards/pujols. What's up with that?
Only cub fans could come up with such a lame excuse, like the wind blows a different way for the cards than the cubs.

I cant think of anything more painful then watching these guys hit with men on. I have tickets to about 20 games this year and I dont feel like going to any of them. Its brutal.
