Jag, glad to share my love of KWS. He's got a lot of great stuff. Very Vaughn-ish.
And to prove that I'm not all good taste.

I don't see much of the resemblance between KWS and SRV. I only listened to Blue On Black, but it didn't remind me of SRV at all. Are there any other of their songs that are a lot more SRV like?
Anyways,

Not so much Blue on Black, but his cover of Dylan's Everything is Broken. KWS's style is a bit similar without being considered a clone. I'd say Vaughn is definitely an influence on the Kenny Wayne Sheppard Band (his solo stuff like Alive is more rock than blues). I'd also recommend his Last Goodbye.
And right now The Outlaws "Green Grass and High Tides."

Johnny Cash did some pretty good cover songs on that last album. I still like the Nine Inch Nails original version, but Cash's was also really good. I had read somewhere that he wanted to cover "Hurt" because the lyrics reflect his life.
Another good Cash cover is "Rusty Cage" originally by Soundgarden.

Originally thought to be about either angels, the government, parents or stalkers, the track was in fact written during the collapse of Sting's marriage to Frances Tomelty; the lyrics are the words of a sinister, controlling character, who is watching "every breath you take / every move you make".
“ I woke up in the middle of the night with that line in my head, sat down at the piano and had written it in half an hour. The tune itself is generic, an aggregate of hundreds of others, but the words are interesting. It sounds like a comforting love song. I didn't realise at the time how sinister it is. I think I was thinking of Big Brother, surveillance and control. ”
