I'll go ahead and give you what you want...which obviously is someone saying Travis Hammons. I'll go the next step though and say that 160 is the second weakest weight class in the state next to 112 this year. Considering he weighed 154.5 at the Barrington tournament he could have wrestled Lukaszewski if he in fact WANTED a tough match. Apparently he didn't.

160 may not have a lot of big stud names like 119 this year but it may well be one of the most competitive weight classes of them all. Any of the top 8 have a shot. Several of the ranked/botr 160 wrestlers from the first of the year are now at 152 so 160 can't be THAT easy.

In the past some top guys at 171 have dropped to 160 in January. Wonder if that will happen again this year.

Huebner - Civic Memorial (SQ last year) was at 71 earlier. Just beat Carlson at 60 last weekend. Harmon - Fenwick dropped to 60 after being a SQ at 71 last year...probably others.

Wrestlers like Burke, Ambrosini, and the rest of the 160 lbs, don't think there weight class is "weak". They wrestle to win, despite there opponents. Yes travis is undefeated, and is continually training to be the 160 lbs class "AA" state champ. As is the rest of the 160's. And as far as his weight goes he came down from 170, to make weight for the Barrington tournament, weighing 160 even. Get your facts straight before you post!!.

Has Marella and Roome wrestled each other and if so, who won?

Craig Tokarski of Plainfield South is undefeated at 21-0 and has not been taken down yet this season.

Burk and Tokarski are the two real sleepers at this weight...both are SQ's but are tough to gauge based on their lesser known opponents (not their fault, just a fact). Hammons gets all the press although similar to the other two mentioned, hasn't had a tough test since early on at Barrington, which he did dominate. Ambrosino has had a great year including going undefeated at the Clash in MN.
Dieppa has climbed back in after losing in mid-december to Holley as has Marella who lost early to Dieppa at Conant. Carlson was near the top after taking 2nd at Dvorak (3-2 barnburner vs Ambrosino) until losing to Huebner last week. Roome got blasted early vs Hammonds but has done well since. Holley and Cascone have been wrestling well all year.
Throw Huebner back in and my surprise pick to do well, Youel, and you've got a very exciting weight class.
As said before, it might not have the "names" that 119 does but these guys are good and it'll be a big battle. Any one of these 10 names, and probably more, can do well if they are prepared come February.

i totally agree with these two being the real sleepers. they both have wrestled great this year, pretty sure they're both undefeated. last year both SQ. i know a little more about tokarski. hasn't faced the best competition this year, but has in the past when wrestling for montini. he has improved each year when it comes to making state. also, no matter how good you are, and what you're competition is, it is an accomplishment being 21-0 so far, and never been taken down in a match yet.

lets just see if he can put it together this yr. 160 will definantly be a great weight class to watch this yr.
