View Full Version : Whats really killing this board

I read all this crying about posters on here saying things that rub people the wrong way. It's an internet message board, get over it. There are more important things in life than spending all day fretting over what some anonymous person is typing on the internet.

What I really think is killing the message board is Twister going lock happy and moving posts just because he has the power to do so. It almost seems to me that he is on a massive power trip. Moving the International post for absolutely no reason was ridiculous. It was clearly a topic about wrestling and there was no reason to move it to a board that gets far more hits than this one. The original poster of that post just wanted to update the Illinois wrestling community on what was going on during the World Championships. There is no international board to post it on so the AA board would be the one where more people would see it and be informed. I for one rarely look at the College board because I know there is a very big chance that nobody has even posted on it in over a day or two.

Just because you have the power to do things doesn't mean you have to use it at every opportunity. That was an instance of abuse of power. No reason to do it and nobody else would have.

In all honesty the only people that will be left on here will be Twister, Dawg, MamaChase, Scoobysmom, and Donovan. If you guys want your own little world to talk to each other than have Admin make a board just for the five of you. I for one enjoy reading some peoples opinions even if they may be a bit out of line. I get over it because i realize its JUST A MESSAGE BOARD.

Most people actually do not share your opinion. They do not like the negative, non-wrestling stuff, especially on the wrestling boards. You may have a point with the international threads, but the moderators here have been on edge the past week with all of the negativity going on. I guess you can call it collateral damage. BTW Mr Twister is not the only moderator. This thread will also be moved to the non-wrestling board so don't be concerned when it goes. It will still be up - just on the non-wrestling board.

I realize he is not the only moderator, but he is the one who locks every post he possibly can find a reason to lock. Usually it is for personal reasons. (Anything negative about any current or former Twister)

We all have our opinions. I follow the rules...1. No personal attacks...2. No profanity or sexual comments...you can complain about me all you want but I am not going to change the way I am...you are right about one thing...if you give me a reason to lock it I will so don't give me a reason and then there is no problem...if I think it is not right for the board I will lock or delete it...got a problem with that I suggest you find another forum because I have been here as a mod for like 7-8 years...and I am not the only mod...actually one of the other mods tells me all of the time I am too lenient...but since admin has no problem with what I do that is all that matters...

TWIST:

Fire at Will - is off base.

Twist, you do an excellent job.

Keep the negative crap off the board - it's all everyone wants.

I am on 5 other boards other states (3 of which I've lived in and have been on their boards for many years) - attacks are removed immediately - as they should.

Keep it up.

I'm not chasing anyone off, I don't care if people go off topic when their conversing. I don't care if the World Championships were moved to the college board and I don't understand why anyone would. I actually kind of like it when people are argueing about wrestling, but when people come on here and talk about sex with someones child or the all pentitentury team it gets a tad bit retarded. My opinion is if you can't say it to someones face then don't say it on this board and quite frankly some of this stuff said lately could get a person punched in the face. People react the same on this board as they would if you were standing next to them. So why doesn't everybody just grow up and stop acting like two 12 year old ghetto kids.

Thank you. It is nice to know that some people are paying attention to our efforts. Like I said we are now going ZERO tolerance and that is the best way. We tried being lenient and it was taken advantage of so back to the hard line.

1) The word retarded is not appropriate.

2) Ghetto kids, is a bad generalization and politically incorrect statement.

***Is this what everyone wants on this board? Having people disect every innocent post like this? Like i said be careful of what you ask for!

(Dawg i am just making a point, nothing personal at all and you know that.)

I do know and understand, that's why I don't have any problems on here.

You are right. We as mods don't want to do that...disect post...but when people are making x-rated comments, racial comments or connotations and posting x rated pics it brings EVERYTHING under a microscope.

Like I said before maybe admin. should shut the site down during the off seaason if people can't discuss wrestling in a normal manner.

Well maybe when you sign up you have to give valid personal information or something. I completely agree with the beyond freedom of speech comments, or comments that really could force legal action. As a poster, you have to realize you can speak your mind, but remember that kids may read some of this stuff. If you are putting up smut or racial slander, you are an idiot and it is really sad. It is not even funny, it is really disgusting.

The locking of threads is a little inconsistent. You have locked threads that didn't violate any of your rules because you said that it had 'run it's course.' Yet when obvious personal attacks go on like the LOCK Mamachase battle, you 'get your popcorn'? Twist you are usually pretty levelheaded, but sometimes (like when a twister is mentioned), you go way off course. I'd just like to see a little more objectivity and consistency.

I know what your saying... but its tough for someone not to be bais... It would be like rooting against your own kid in match, just because he is wrestling another kid that is a great person...

Twist might not always please everyone or the majority.. but atleast he is giving us his time... I appreciate, and I am sure you do... but his job isnt easy...

I love it when people aurgue....bout wrestling.....here. I thought this is what this site was made for, I always could be wrong though. Wrestling like everything else can get very controversial. Though I am 15, and personaly I am also against the attacks. This site is made for wrestling (and in the right spot a little non-wrestling). I hear this stuff all the time. It seems like if someone says something its all-right, if someone else says the samething it is a huge thing (depending on what was said, and the race, sex, etc of whosaid it). Still, to prevent all of that I think everyone should stop making those comments. Also for those people and strong feelings about that, and kids, stop saying it. Who cares if you like the moderators or not. Who cares if you don't like somone or not, please stop saying it, for everyone else. I am not the most politically correct person, I don't even care what is or isn't politically correct, but it is all the same.

The moderators will always be biased. They are human beings and cannot help the fact they are. With that being said though there is nothing that should stop people from expressing their opinions about this fact. Twist has been known to be extremely defensive of Mario, the twisters, Mt. Carmel, and of course questions (jabs) at his expertise. This causes a little anger when anything is brought up negatively which is reasonable. The forum is used to express opinions of wrestling but we all get involved in each other so there has to be a point to let things go. Talking about wrestling creates arguments and arguments are usually the most interesting thing on these boards. The no tolerance and locking down is very silly since it is a way for people to protect themselves and it might work but it also might make this board a place people will be interested in less and less. I am just saying being offended is not a great feeling but you got to calm down and let things slide. This is a message board for Christ's sake not a freaking courthouse. We are not all experts but we don't need to act like pompous a**holes if we know more then the next man.

Right on point. I have been saying this too, but we have to have a line drawn. If someone(or many) becomes so offensive and crude, you are forced to take action.
