OK, I'll break the news. He lost in OT to Eric Celleti(sp) of Byron at the Metamora tourny. No gas in the tank. Time to go to work.

Spelling was close (Celletti). No shame in losing to Eric either. I've watched him over the past 6 years and he just gets better every year. Glad to see Jeff is back in there. Anyone have any other results from Metamora?

Eric's a tough kid, but I usually get pounded(pages and pages) on the boards every time he loses. It's all good though.

45.....................Don't get me wrong here, that's not an excuse. If you run out of gas you didn't work hard enough or prepare correctly.

It's ok Dawg.. We all know from Watching Jeffrey the past few years that it takes more than a loss to hold him down.. Can't wait to see what he looks like at State! Just glad Jeffrey is on the mat and hanging in there. One tough Kid. Best of luck!

bybee always seems to pick up a loss or two during the regular season. no big deal, it happens. all that matters is that he is ready to go at state!

Bybee is all washed up.... he probably won't even qualify for state. He hasn't worked very hard at all since his last state championship.....I'm mean, geez, look at his weight - 145?!?!? You've got to be kidding me - what's he been doin sittin' on the couch eating bon-bon's and watching daytime drama tv???

<sarcasm, if you couldn't tell>

:D :D :D

He definitely knows how and when to hit his peak and is sure to do so in due time!

I have to give Celletti credit....Bybee had him turned in the first and Celletti was down 5-0. It was not a very fast paced match, but Celletti defintley was impressive with 5 consecutive take downs through the second and third periods ...to to win it. I look forward to round two. Congratulations to both...........

Your right, I'm just being stupid. I'm just used to getting hammered after a loss.

It is funny in the world of sports, that there are so many people waiting for good athletes to have a below par match ...or just get beat by a better opponent on that night. They can't wait to be anonymous and blast peoples hard work. As stated earlier......when the state meet rolls around, I'm sure both these kids will be ready for what they have prepared and dreamed for. Good luck

I wouldn't want to be his next opponent.

As a casual observer from this past weekend, Jeffrey's main problem is an easy problem to fix - conditioning. Obviously, he is not lacking in technique, and he seems to be strong enough to compete with kids at 145, even though he might be a natural 140 or 135 even. He just needs more mat time and with that he will gain the conditioning that he needs to be successful. It is always fairly helpful to gain your conditioning as the season progresses. A lot of wrestlers start the year out getting pretty tired at the end of the second period, into the third. As the season goes on, this problem should go away. A few extra workouts to get the lungs back used to being pushed again, and things will be ok. Was this his first match since last Feb?

I'd be willing to wager that Jeffrey will be just fine and standing on top of a podium in Champaign come February.

He's dealt with alot this year for a young man.

A loss will always make a wrestler stronger, he will be fine.

A loss at this point in the season is a normally a positive for a high caliber wrestler such as Jeff. I feel it is the one thing that can continue to motivate someone who has already reached the highest level that high school wrestling in Illinois can offer. I would be willing to bet that he is working twice as hard and with a different focus from before.

I thought that is what you were looking for.:)

When he got hurt, yous thought he would get back to action in a couple of months. Did the leg take longer to heal, or did he just take the summer off, or maybe a combination of the two.

It was, I said that's more like it.:D Ilove it, It's all good.
