I think it is so overated. If you look at the IHSA state tourney this past week, look how many kids were not ranked and did very well, or were ranked and dominated, and did not place at all or didnt do as well as expected. Great example (if you know who these kid is), Mike McCauliffe winning state at 103. Seven loses during the year and takes third at sectionals, comes up with a great couple days and goes home with some hardware. Theres way more that happened, but my point is to that if you believe, your focused, and you want it, you can do anything. Just take it from me. Last year, thats exactly what I did and I wasnt even varsity the whole year, but I came home with a state medal. Thats what makes this sport so great, anyone can beat anyone on a given day and upsets happen; a lot.
