Tavarus Green is going 160. Just beat Stenburg of Lockport 10-3 in the semifinals at conference on Saturday. Lost to Conrad Polz 13-3 in the finals.

He is one of the best kept secrets in Illinois. Where did he come from. To score 10 points against Stenberg is impressive. Did he throw, take down and cut, or turn from the top? Why is nobody talking about this young man? I have not seen him wrestle but heard he is very athletic. Should be good with him and Reynolds.

Dorsey will be at 130
How do you think dorsey will do at sectionals and state ...can he place?
I have watched him since jr. high but not that familiar with who he will be facing at state. Can he advance assuming he makes it through sectionals?

Once again you are doubting a Returning State Qualifier @ 125. stepped... why so quick to write kids off. I certainly expect Dorsey to be in the mix and is capable of beating any of the above mentioned.

Well i expect to 130 to be fun weight to watch but I see 3 kids getting out and that is Wojick SHallenberger and third is up for grabs but i would go with Zobac.

i never once said he couldnt do it i said he was going to have a hard time. 3 of the 4 kids not sure about wojcik where also state qualifiers last year as well so yes he will have his hands full. and no i dont think he will place at state a personal opinion but my opinion on it

Waropay wrestled at 171 last weekend and a couple of meets before that. Max Hayden has been wrestling at 160.

He wrestled for Berwyn Cicero Morton Last year. Beat Lehr (Bloomington) 1st round at state in a close match (8-6?) maybe.

Green is a junior; he is perhaps the most humble and respectful young athlete I have ever met. green/reynolds will happen at regionals. A toss-up in my opinion. possible sectional rematch could be a good one.

assuming dorsey makes it out of sectionals, ive seen him wrestle and have actually wrestled him and i believe he has the ability to be a placer...if he peaks at the right time i think he will have a medal around his neck..but talking sectionals, he will have his hands full but i think he is on a diff level than zobac and with shallenberger its a toss up bc earlier in the year it was 6-6 and shallenberger won on a last second takedown

ive also seen green wrestle and he is the real deal...he will be in the finals in the sectional and might just win it...green/reynolds will be a good match but i think green will open some eyes in champaign

Dorsey is on a different level than Zobac? They were both at Quincy...Zobac was champ...Dorsey finished 3rd.

Yea i didnt quite get it either but i didnt want to be biased but i as well didnt get this dorsey got beat by ragen 6-4 and zobac beat ragen pretty handily 6-3 zobac was in control the whole match

maybe i shouldnt have used the saying he is on a different level...i think physically he is..i think he is physically stronger and tougher..and with ragen and dorsey it came down to the end of the match

It all boils down to different styles. Ragan's unorthodox wrestling and great scrambling gave Dorsey fits. Zobac, with a more traditional wrestling style would be a much better fit for him. If they meet it will be a great match.

Look at the Quincy tourny. http://illinoismatmen.com/2007-08/tournaments/quincy/quincy.pdf
Zobac won the finals it was a good match, but not as close as the score indicates. Then look at Graham v Zobac and Graham v Dorsey. Zobac looked a lot better at Quincy.

Style match up is everything. There are often 3 good kids where A beats B every time, B beats C every time and C beats A every time.

Come on Maroon and Gold... your splitting hairs here. Dorsey beat Graham 16-3 and Zobac won by tech. at Quincy? At Chatham Tourney Dorsey Teched Graham in a little over 2 minutes. I'm not going to provide the link... look for yourself under Chatham Tournament, I don't see the relevance... If you want to point to match with Ragan, OK. Dorsey Lost and Zobac won on that day. If Zobac thinks that that will carry him to the state tournament then we shall see in 2 weeks.

Underestimating any of them is a mistake at this point. I don't think you can compare them based on mutual opponents. Shallenberger and Zobac haven't met (as far as I know) and it looks as if they have a mutual opponent from Iowa, but everyone matches up differently.
I was looking at Shallenberger's wins and losses on the rankings page and he has quality wins and a few losses, hard to judge, but everything listed he has kept close. I think that is just how he wrestles, most go all 6 and come down to the end. I wish he wouldn't do that (hard on the people stressing out in the stands) but lately he has been ending some matches earlier. I don't think anyone wants to miss a minute of our sectional--might as well not have concessions!

How many wins and losses do Shallenberger and Zobac have? Who was the kid from Iowa and how close were the matches?

Mike Hemming is the kid from Iowa that beat Shallenberger and Zobac. This is going to be a very tough sectional but I would have to say it is going to be Wojcik, Shallenberger and Bain who make it out. It's too bad because Zobac and Dorsey are very good wrestlers.

Hemming is Zobac's only loss. Zobac and Hemming were tied 1-1 with about 15 seconds left I think... Zobac went for a toss and ended up on his back...he got out of it and I think they ended up out of bounds with about 7 seconds...but there wasn't enough time left to come back. From what I understand Hemming wrestled the line against both guys...and should have been nailed for stalling.

I am sorry I wasn't their. I didn't realize Hemming got lucky twice, LOL. The truth is it really doesn't matter, if you look at who Shallenberger has beat he is going to be tough to get by. Zobac is a good wrestler and has won some quality matches but it will be very tough for him to get out. It will be too bad if he doesn't because on a good day he is definately capable of placing.
