With the success of many of the IESA teams over the years who charter teams in the IKWF for their younger wrestlers why is it better to have try outs and cut the less talented kids than to offer them the option to wrestle for the youth club.
I have asked many a IESA coach over they years and none want to answer the question. The best answer I get is 6th-8th grade is IESA only. So it is better to cut a wrestler and tell them good luck next year and sorry we can't help you get better since you are not good enough for our time.
Although it is nice to have an IESA team and an IKWF youth team, it makes sence to me if only 2 wrestlers per weight class can wrestle at regionals. Why not let the other team members and those not so talented members the coaches in their poor wisedom cut from the team wrestle for the IKWF team.
I think .... keep the kids on the mats and out of trouble .... there many be a state champ in there in a year or two.
