This Tuesday 11/25 and early season showdown of northern Illinois wrestling powers takes place between Harlem and Dakota. What is everyone thoughts on this dual and it's outcome?

Hecox had trouble holding 160 last year (didn't make it for regionals), which tells me he was still growing. Being a year older, I would think 171 is his lowest tournament weight.

Well who is besides Grant and Libertyville. They have a solid history in Illinois wrestling. Don't be so hard on the north side. I mean we know it's not the south or west suburbs but then again who is....LOL. Still they are decent and it is as good of a match up as you are going to get on that side of the state.

Dakota's Brady Schlueter vs. Harlem's Derek Elmore @ 103 Brady's a SQ last year and ranked #2 in A - I see where Elmore won Fresh/Soph State and should be ranked high in AAA when rankings come out. Should be a good match to watch.

Don't know if Seth Milks ranked #1 is going 125 or 130

Also correct me if im wrong at 103 Hono's wahliula ( not sure on the spelling) is a good 103 pounder and went to state and also beat Elmore once but lost twice.

Belvidere will have a tougher time in the NIC-10 this year due to the fact that this will be the first year that splitting into 2 high schools will have the full effect. Belvidere North opened last year, but Seniors were allowed to stay at Belvidere if they chose. As a result, Belvidere North had no Seniors on most of their varsity teams. This year, students do not have that choice. As a result, look for Belvidere North to be stronger and Belvidere to be somewhat weaker.

Elmore won the early season matches, but coaching won out in the long run. Waliuliah won all the matches at the end of the season. I don't expect a rematch this year as Ozzy will never see 103 again.

Hononegah lost 6 starters by my count and three of those were state qualifiers (fenicle, givens, karner). The Indians will have four state qualifiers returning: Waliullah at 112 or 119, mcMahon at 145 or 152, Dwyer at 171 or 189, and Hollis at 215. They should be as good as last year...without some of their top wrestlers, but perhaps a bit more solid throughout the lineup.

Hononegah vs Harlem should be another good matchup on Jan. 15!

Harlem over Dakota 45-26 Some good matches to watch. Hecox dominated his opponent (missed ranked Staub 10 - went 189) Anthony and Lizer ranked 3 wrestled an exciting defensive match, with Anthony turning Lizer late in close match and won by fall. They wrestled @160 sure Lizer will be @ 152

Staub went on to win his match on a fall in the 3rd period winning at that point 6-3 At 112 Elmore completly dominated Schlueter who is ranked 2nd by winning by fall in the 1st period. I believe Elmore was up 10-0 @ that time. Was told both will be @ 103 this year. Elmore looked tough and he will be a big 103.

Last match of the night was Milks #1 vs. Calahan @ 130. Calahan wrestling tough, as score was 6-0 Milks going into 3rd, final with Milks winning 11-0 Also with being told Milks will be going 125 this year has to be a favorite in A

Elmore is definately someone who will make some noise this year. My call is top three at 103 for state.

He won Borderwars, and has improved a lot over the past year. Hell do well.
