Granite City Tournament

How many teams are in the Granite City Tournament? The results listed for previous years are the 2nd day brackets which would indicate either 8 teams or no wrestlebacks.

There are a lot more teams there than 8. they only show the second day brackets the first day it is set up sort of like freestyle state with four guys in a group and the top two advancing to the second day. Somewhere in the 20's would be a good guess . I heard they have added a few more teams this year.

They do 18 or 20 teams. And the last 2 years they have dopped the bottom 2 teams and added two new ones. I am not sure though of who was added this year. But I will put my money on Oak Park walking away with it again this year.

We have 18 teams, the new teams this year are Libertyville and Ray-Pec(MO). On the first day wrestlers are in one of two 8-man brackets and must win 2 out of 3 to make the second day and then are placed in a brand new 8-man bracket and wrestle out to 6 places. If more than 16 are entered at a weight then the wrestlers with the worst records wrestle in a pigtail to get into the tourney.

Yes, he wrestled 135 at the Holiday tourney last year, and 130 at state. I also would like to see Ellis Coleman in that bracket, but I think I read somewhere he gained a little weight in the off-season.
