2nd best match of night was at 112. Br Rice mazair was winning by 3 with 10 seconds left and lost.
125 Br Rice March comes out early with the take down and the lead on Bokoski but can't do much after that.
152 best match. Taylor from Br Rice looked like he had a take down against Wynerski (sp?) in the 3rd period only to be not called by the ref.
215 good match won by the rice kid who was stalling at the end.
130 Blake Matamara (sp?) did not look so good in the begining but then opened a can of whip as and won by fall.
All in all most of the matches were close but Minnoka was the better team.

rice is trying to fill some holes so they are bumping some people up. when it gets closer to regionals, then the kids will be in their "comfortable" weight class and they will be better as a team i would think

It was a fun meet to watch. As mentioned, there were several close matches. Personally, I thought Zabel's win at 112 was the best match of the evening.

The 215 match - Haase got caught early with a lateral and played catch-up ever since. Must have had at least 3 takedowns in 30 seconds at one point. Scoreboard was all screwed up and I (and everybody else in the gym) thought Haase was winning with 6.5 seconds left. Apparently not. Regardless, the Rice kid was constantly backing up and should have been called for stalling several times.

152 I saw differently. (But then again, I'm a bit biased - lol!) Rice kid was clearly out of bounds and did not have the needed takedown IMO...

I heard taylor got robbed
i would not say that. there was a scramble where a take down could have been called but wasn't. Some Ref's would have called it and others like yesterday would not of. Neither wrestler did or could do anything much on the offense and i would not say that one wrestler is better than the other.

You heard wrong!
Curious if you heard about the poor sportsmanship displayed by coaches, fans and wrestlers from Brother Rice?
It's amazing to see people that have "been there before" unable to act like "they've been there"

And I agree that the 112 match was the match of the night. Zabel wrestled whistle to whistle and came out with win.

I happen to know that the wrestlers and coaches from br rice are class acts. I was not there yesturday so I cannot speak for what may have occured, but if anything did i am sure it was heat of the moment. 2 #4 ranked wrestlers going into double ot would get anyone goin

why would you say that in the 1st part of your statement? The whole gym was involved in the match and both coaching staffs and the crowd was yelling at the ref on different occasions. Truth be told, i was in the stands and i heard more foul language on the minooka side then on rice's. I agree that Taylor from Rice was acting a bit foolish after his match but as a whole, it was a fun match to watch. Don't take away from the spirit of the meet. If every meet was like Br. Rice/Minnoka. Wrestling would be the national past time.

I was there and I honestly don't know what some of you are talking about. Yes, it was an exciting evening for all and people got loud. BUT, I never heard anything negative from anybody in the stands other than whining about the ref (which happens at every meet). I also didn't see anything out of line with either team or coaches other than debating a few calls. I was chatting the whole evening with some of the Rice kids and they were all very nice and well mannered. The Minooka kids and fans were fine too. Unless something isolated was happening that I missed? Maybe. But, I didn't see anything...

Thank you Fishart, sometimes it seems people like to exaggerate. There is nothing wrong with intensity from both teams as long as they demonstrate sportsmanship as well. With you being there and from reading your post I hold you as a very credible source knowing that there was no unsportsmanship from either team as someone so ignorant stated before.

I didn't think that the poor sportsmanship was during the Taylor match. Taylor may have been a little foolish at the end but eh, whatever that doesn't really bother me. He's a kid and he was into the match. I actually thought it was cool when he was trying to get the crowd in to it before the overtime. Plus he didn't bother me because I don't know if it was team strategy to bump him up or because he was chasing talent but either way you have to respect that.

My problem was with the 215 match- the longevity of the discussion and the arguing and staying on the mat by the coaches from Rice.
One of the coaches from Rice had to tell a fan to sit down because he was almost out on the mat. And another fan from Rice was asked to leave and preceded to use a ridiculous amount of profanity
One of the coaches told a Minooka fan to shut up. Some of the Rice kids were talking into the stands to the Minooka fans- I don't care for that stuff.

And the head coach doesn't shake hands at the end of the match. (Sounds Classy to me)

I wasn't sitting in the middle of the Minooka fans so I can't say what went on there. So I'm not going to defend something that I don't know about.
I certainly don't think that any of the coaches from Minooka behaved badly or the Minooka wrestlers.

Zabel is a tough kid. The whole Minooka team is a very solid squad. I love good duals like that, I wish there were more of them. Those are what hook people to wrestling, very good for the sport.

Kinda like the Yorkville-Batavia duals the last few years that I'm looking forward to again this year. Hope to see you there Foxesfan

I guess I was too engrossed in the matches! I never saw any of this - lol! (I was smack dab in the middle of the stands btw).

I don't think ANYBODY knew what was going on with the 215 match. Lot's of points scored quickly. Lot's of confusion hence the reason for the long talks at the head table. Lot's of emotions flying, but as mentioned it made for a great meet to watch! I Love it when two good teams come together and have that level of intensity!!!

I was @ the meet and in the middle of the Minooka fan base... If being loud and cheering on your team is "Bad Sportsmanship" then I guess I'm under a much different set of rules that those who make judgements. I always thought this type of atmosphere is what High School sports was all about. There were some awfully good matches @ the Minooka/ Brother Rice dual... Congrats to all who sat there without saying a word, cause you missed one heck of a good time!!!

The guy that I saw get asked to leave wasn't from Minooka. He was complaining about Minooka and was asking a guy to take it outside and that he was going to kick his a**.
At that point the score was 40-12 because somebody else in the hallway started arguing with him telling him to look at the score board which obviously was really helpful.
Maybe he wasn't from Rice it was an odd argument to have if he wasn't from Rice but it's certainly possible.
