The Midwest Classic was classic.

Wonderful Chicago Heights, IL. Is there a better city to spend a Sunday? Sure, it's not Calumet City...but it's close. You know, if I had and extra 8500$ laying around I might even send my kid to Marion Catholic. It really is a beautiful school. Props to Spartandog and his crew for a awesome day of wrestling. I thought they did a great job. Dog biscuits for everyone.

Two matches...

Wrestle backs from the semi finals was a great, great idea. The wrestle back rounds went fairly fast and boy were there some battles. When it's "win and you're in" or "lose and go home" the kids really step it up. Maybe next year they will let the word out earlier. You never know, that may entice even more clubs to show up. I'm all for cross bracketing too, that was a good idea also.

Murphy's Law

"The Main Event" was the 84lbs A. Spangler(FV) vs. B. Murphy(Vit) final bout. Murphy scores the only point with an escape. Murphy then rides Andy out for the entire 3rd period with only one stall warning. It was very cat-like. There was a rather large crowd around the mat which made watching difficult. With the victory Murphy was voted the Outstanding Wrestler award. That was a heck of a match. State final preview???

Talent was in da-house

National champs, Trinity award winners, State champs, Freestyle studs... you name it they were there. Young to old, small guys to big guys...they were there. Brill, Ramos, Spangler, Klopp, Ayersman, Theilke, Larson, Wilbourn, Munster, Perna, Ward just to name a few of them. But, the Twisters were a no show??? I read they were at the Reed Custer tourney. The Heights is just down the road from them. Maybe next year we'll see them there.

Foxy Valley Baby

Fox Valley won the team title. As they should have. I thought they looked real good. Very strong, good wrestlers. From top to bottom they are pretty tough. Fox Valley and Martinez Fox Valley Elite should be a heck of a Sectional battle. I wonder if they are getting into the State Duals?

Walking Taco???

The 'walking taco' is good, but it's no 'Taco-in-a-bag'. I was all set for my hotdog at 12:00, a slice of pie and a coke at 2:00 and finish off the day with a Taco-in-a-bag. Stiffed?!?!?! The biggest event in the state should have the Taco-in-a-bag. Spartandog you gotta make the change next year...please!

Little Green Men Everywhere...

You think I'd make a post without plugging the kids in 'Kelly Green'? 6 in the finals with 8 total medals. Not a bad day for LCWC. You would think that would be good enough for a top 3 team finish but it wasn't. This tournament was that tough. Can't wait for the State Duals baby!

No time to let down

The kids Open and the Tulsa National this weekend... WOW! Here we go again.
