View Full Version : Why not 1/1.5/1.5 periods?

I understand why tourney hosts do the 1/1/1 deal. And I especially understand why for the little kids. But, once the kids are at the novice/5th and 6th graders level on up, I think they should all be 1/1.5/1.5. After all, everybody's paying the same. (I could even see reasoning for the 1/1/1 kids to pay LESS). Many off-season tourneys go 1/1/1 until you reach the high school level. And that's the first thing I ask when inquiring about a tourney. If the periods are only 1/1/1 for my 7th grader, we don't go to these tourneys! Why should I pay the same to get 25% less mat time??? FYI, I've got a high school kid too, but if you tourney hosts want to make it worth my while to travel, I'm going to a tourney with longer match times. I understand I have a choice. But, I just wanted to throw this out there because I know a lot of people that do the same as I...

I agree with you FishArt. I think sometimes the tournament hosts forget that although the event is a fundraiser, it still needs to be about the wrestling.

You should enjoy the Prairie Ridge Open which is 1, 1.5, 1.5 for 5th grade and over. I'll keep my eye on the mailbox for your pre-registration.

Looks like a good one to attend. Unfortunately, we are relegated to Sunday tourneys until early June (Soccer season...)
