My son is a wrestler at St Rita High School. During freestyle season in late April 2005 he had the fight of his life when he became infected with Meningitis and a bacterial staff infection (doctors believe it was wrestling related)which attacked his blood, liver and lungs. He spent 3 days on a ventilator at which time the doctors did not know if he would recover. Thanks to the wonderful doctors at Christ Hope Childrens Hospital, St Rita, and GOD, he has made a comlpete recovery after a week in ICU, a week on a regular floor and 6 week of intensive drug therapy. Knowing the my sons recovery was nothing short of a miracle, my husband and I decided we wanted to show GOD how grateful we were by helping others in need.
While at Christ Hope Childrens Hospital we found out that one of our son's class mates was also there, in the battle of his life. This young man was and still is fighting a blood cancer.
My husband and I have become involved with the Leukemia and Lymphma Societys team in trainng in which we will both participate in a 1/2 matrathon in an attempt to raise funds for this Society.
Through Team in Training we have gotten the opportunity to learn first hand, the challenges cancer patents undergo. Unfortunately we have also realized many lose their battles to this horrific disease. It is this realism that reinforces our decision to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society find a cure. We dont want any other parents to lose their children to this disease. Therefore, we are committed to raising $6800.00 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of this sick young man, to support research and patient aid and help save lives.
We realize, especially today, you are asked on a daily basis to contribute to various causes. Researchers believe that Leukemia is the most basic of all cancers and finding a cure for it could serve as a foundation for establishing a cure for all cancers. Coupled with the strides that have been made in the last 3 years, your donation will only bring us closer to a cure.
I hope you are willing and able to contribute. If so please make your check payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and send it to
