Vandals finish sweep of quad with emotional win

Saturday's sweep in the Vandal Quad underscored the importance of the team concept for the Vandalia wrestling squad.
The Vandals improved to 16-1 on the season by coming together as a team to rout Murphysboro (58-15) and Alton (54-12), then come back to beat Prairie Central (39-32).
"The guys really got into it as a team today," Vandalia coach Glenn Exton said. "They picked it up. I'm really proud of them for that."
After easily dispatching Murphysboro to start the day, the Vandals scored a stunning victory against Alton, who entered the match 10-1.
