Here is my take on the top 20 AA teams.....

2. Providence (I consider the loss to St Rita a fluke)

I have to disagree with putting Prov ahead of rita I understand your thinking and IF they wrestled again the outcome might be different but rita won and deserves to be ahead. Same with Marist they beat carmel by 15 and Conat by 20? maybe they should not be behind these teams. In my book you beat someone your better, anyone can make excuses for loses but when the whistle blows the story is written.

You have to take into account tournament performance. Why is this relevant? To GET into the team sectionals, you MUST win your regional, which IS a tournament format. Having said that, based on their regional and team sectional assignments, I don't believe Marist, Conant, Mt Carmel, Providence, Glenbard North, or Naperville North, will advance to the State Dual Team Championship. Tough assessment, but that is my honest opinion.....

If you look at it that way I understand what your saying, but for now during the season I always look at it overall. Don't even get me started on the team tournament format I think it's unfortunate for the fans that the best teams do not all compete in it. If you use the Sun-times rankings just for an example 3 of the top 10 teams are in the same sectional, I do belive the best 2 teams usually make it to the finals but after that its not very realistic.

Libertyvill won't be nearly as good as they were last year.
The seniors pretty much carried the team, and they lost nearly everyone.

Montini is staying at 2A. As for 3A I like Providence and Nequa Valley as 1-2 but that is just my opinion it could be a wide open field this year.

Please do not take this too seriously . . . it is spelled Neuqua Valley, . . . not Nequa. It seems that more times than not the name is misspelled. Many of us in the NV family have gotton used to this, . . . but it is worth mentioning.

IHSA Classification Policy
Playing Up in Classification

1. IHSA member schools may petition the Association to play up in classification.

2. The Executive Director will approve such requests provided schools meet the following criteria:


The request is received in the IHSA office by September 1.
The request is for a minimum of 2 years.
In football, the school must specify the class they intend to participate in should the school qualify for the IHSA Football Playoffs. In all cases, the request must be for a classification equal to or higher than the class they qualify for based on their IHSA enrollment.
In all other sports or activities, requests to play up in classification may be made on an individual sport or activity basis. In all cases, the request must be for a classification equal to or higher than the class they qualify for based on their official IHSA enrollment.
We would like to request to play up in classification in the following sports and/or activities:
