I don't know how many people on the board were around for the powerhouse Savanna teams, I was(wrestled against them) for their final strong years. I usually don't get into what if matchups and the like, but any thought who would win?

Any of the following
- specific year for each team
- create 'super' team of wrestlers from each school
- individual matchups.

The 1980 Savanna team won state with 101.5 points, with Providence second at 59.5 points.

some Savanna wrestlers
Brad Anderson 98 - 119
Dan Anderson 112 - 119
Robbie Bearce 105
Mark Ernst 98
Joe Fosdick 155 - 167
Chuck Haas 185
Joel Kallenberger 167
Jim Kurth 155
Mike Kurth 155
Mike Lindeman 167
Dave Melhus 98 - 126
Marty Morfey 185

Some Montini
Chase Beebe 103 - 130
Conor Beebe 103 - 130
Mikey Benefiel 119 - 140
Vince Colleti 119 - 152
Mike Grimes 119 - 130
Pat McCaffery 103

I remember some of those old Savanna teams and they were tough, and I know this firsthand. The old Mahomet Seymour teams were pretty tough too.

Having seen Montini wrestle over at Dvorak this year, though, I'd have to go with them. They just have too many tough kids on their roster.

In 1980, Savannah had 2 champs, a 2nd , a 3rd and a 4th. In 2002, Montini had 5 champs and 2 in 4th. I think Montini's score would have been well over 150, probably closer to 200. Even with 2 extra weight classes, it's clear they were a more dominant tournament team.

I went back a looked at an old Illinois Best Weekly I still have(he always lists old scoring methods)

From the IBW...

Montini had 150.5 points to second place Clinton 54.5. The 150.5 would have been an all time tournament record in either class... before or since the beginning of two classes. Prior to 2002, no team had surpassed the 78 East Leyden's 129.5, officially or unofficially.
