Wow, I forgot this blog existed. It's weird looking back.
Anyways, I just wanted to say hi and post a quick update.
My junior year (2008) I moved to the NMU/USOEC in Marquette, MI to rehab my back (stress fractures) and I remained there through my senior year of high school. I wouldn't wish those winters on anybody! Following my training there, I placed second at Junior Worlds in 2009.
This past year, I decided to attend Missouri Baptist University with three of my NMU teammates and a coach that I trusted. Our goal was to start a revolution on the women's college wrestling scene, but the program fell through very early on. The people that I went there with (Amy Whitbeck, Helen Maroulis, Schuyler Brown, and Caitlyn before she was injured) and I were soon the only ones practicing. I ended the season with a second place finish at World Team Trials, as did two of my teammates (the other placed third).
This summer, I tore my ACL at the Junior World camp and had surgery 6 days later. I am now two months out of surgery and am rehabbing my knee in Colorado Springs at the OTC. After I am back to full health, I will be returning to IL to train and go to school. I'm thankful that this injury happened now, rather than right before Olympic Team trials or some other important event.
Thanks for reading! :)
