Nate Holley has committed to attend and wrestle for coach Rob Koll and the Big Red of Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Cornell is in the IVY League/EIWA Wrestling conference and finished fourth last year at the NCAA Div I Championships. They are currently ranked in the top 10.
Nate is a returning state placer (4th at 160 in '05), an '04 Cadet All-American, and a 3X state Freestyle placewinner. He has been ranked as high as 14th Nationally (10/04 Wrestling USA's Best High School Juniors) and is currently in the top 30 for High School Seniors at 171. His college weight class is projected at 174/184 although at 6'2", 197 is not out of the question.
Nate has been accepted to Cornell's College of Engineering.
As you may or may not know, the IVY league does not have "letters of intent" or "early signings". Instead, recruits must be accepted into the University through the normal (in Nate's case, Early Admission) academic process first. Then you can officially commit to the athletic programs. Thus the timing is a bit different than other Universities. Nate was officially accepted on 12/15/05 and he is Neuqua's first IVY league athlete.
