View Full Version : Fargo
Several years ago this site would have been alive with the discussion of our sucesses as a state in Fargo. I do not frequent the site like I did when my son was involved. What happened?

It was a way to get information to those who couldn't attend, but now you can just go to trackwrestling.com. All matches are updated live and most matches are streamed live.

132 Junior is ridiculous, 102 athletes.
Right out of the gate (bout 170), Renaldo Rodrigues-Spencer vs Topher Carton (wrestling for team Illinois, BTW).

Bad draw or not, he had advantage to win and didn't!! Assad was his only 8th grade loss in a 50-1 season also...extremely upsetting!!

It will not get any easier with Rogaliner (MI) only a few spots below and Bresser (OR) only a few spots above him in the brackets.

Maybe we have gotten used to winning and it is not news anymore. I remember when we could only boast a handful of AA's and a made a big deal about it. Now we bring home a dozen or more per style and age group.

I hope to NEVER to get used to hearing my guy's voice breaking up on the phone telling me how excited he is to place at Fargo.

There is no doubt that placing in Fargo is pinnacle moment and benchmark achievement.

IMO, not as many hard core message board guys around. Also a few years back some of us posted like crazy to promote the international styles. Track gives instant results and you can get great national coverage/info from other online sources.
Message boards have changed, they are not what they use to be.

He was ill (it seemed) during his match, lost. Then withdrew, I believe due to illness.

I'll say congrats to "Slammy" for his double titles. Way to represent teams Oak Park and Illinois. Good luck at Iowa.

And add a congratulations to every wrestler on the cadet and junior teams. Whether they went 18-0 0r 0-2 they all put in the blood, sweat and tears to get there and that in itself is a huge accomplishment.

First I would like to thank all the coaches that give their time away from their families to coach our wrestlers; it's greatly appreciated. I have to say thank you to the coaches from Illinois who are not a Fargo coach who still came out to support our wrestlers like, Izzy from Izzy Style, Clay Guida, Coach Heffernan from Marist and Coach Hahn from GBN.
A special thanks goes out to Mike Urwin, Kelly Cusick and Gene Lee for all they do; it doesn’t go unnoticed.
To the wrestlers: Congrats on all your hard work. It's not easy going to Fargo and competing in the toughest National Tournament; whether you came in 1st or didn't place we are all so proud of each and every one of you.
Sammy Brooks said it best, Illinois Wrestling is more than just wrestling, it's a family.
Good luck to those who will be leaving in August for college and starting their new adventure. We wish you all lots of success and Illinois will be watching; keep making us all proud.
Congratulations and thank you again,
Gaby Robertson
