Let me first say these are just MY OPINIONS.

1. The championships were very well run. Gordon Tech did a fantastic job from the word go to the moment they turned the lights off. Loyola you have a model to follow and a tuff act to follow.

2. I am now convinced the CCL is the toughest conference to win a championship in.

3. The CCL tournament has a hugh effect on the rankings. The only other tournament that effect the rankings this much is Dvorak.

4. The CCL is the most tradition rich conference tournament. It was pretty amazing to see how many former champs were in the building watch their old schools. Every champ I talked to told me how important it was to be a CCL champion. To them this was just not any old tournament.

5. There is not much difference between the top three teams. Anyone of them can win on any day. The semis killed Mc. The finals killed SR. Providence is the real deal and Sandburg needs to be getting ready for Super Tuesday because it won't be a walk in the park. Neither will SR vs MC. Which I could be at both.

6. Keith Healy is all class. Win or lose this guy is always smiling.

7. Jake Nelson is for real. I got a good look at him this week and he will medal high.

8. Is Reynolds always so confident? I got the feeling he is the heartbeat of Providence.

9. there is not much difference between Argue and Engwall. Very, very close. thursday at MC should be a war.

10. Fenwick was impressive. Not top three but they are a lot better now than when I saw them early in the year against MC.

11. Gordon Tech is going class A next year and with a few lower weights they could be all right over there. They need to schedule Montini so they know where they stand if they plan on winning class
A in the future.

12. Very impressed with Greg Anderson the official. For a big man he moves well and man can he get down on the mat in potential pin situations. it is so nice to see a good official hustle. nice job Greg. You too Brooks.

13. Is Uccardi getting better or Starzyk slipping? Uccardi almost pulled it off against number 1. Something tells me they will meet again.

14. Is Hutter the most improved wrestler in the CCL from last year to now? I think so. Can he beat the big four of Kennedy, Oster, Fanthorpe or Lloyd? Can Brown beat him thursday night? Time will tell.

15. Great matchup at 125 between old friends Webster and Morgan. Just a preview to the sectionals. Morgan is starting to get hot and wrestle smart which is a good thing because he can win 125. And Zimmerman will be dominate in the future if he keeps working and wrestling all of these studs. Does he freestyle?

16. Kenny Jordan is going to hard to beat at 130 this year. I really don't see a serious contender.

17. Can Mike Ryan win class A 119? Does being in the CCL help or hurt him?

18. Jerome Ward was impressive to me. He has gotten a lot of milage out of just two and a half years of wrestling. Who will admit they thought he would beat Golden.

19. McElligott looked recoverd from his injury and ready to roll.

20. Will anyone touch Sands at 189. He looks very focused. St Lawrence may get a state champ.

Thanks for the notes ‘Twist’. Weather was so bad, I had to miss the CCL Championships. Heard there was a lot of ‘buzz’ regarding B.J. Futrell (sp), heard the only issue with him is his size. He will grow! Is he as good as the Hype?

What happened to Mt Carmel? The attitude and disrespect this team displayed as a whole was terrible. Brown throwing his head gear and swearing at the ref. The Argue parent swearing at the ref. Hardy throwing the headgear and swearing at his coach. Morgan dancing on the mat after his semi win. Not all of the boys acted this poorly but it did not look good for what could be a great program again some day. Coaches need to get control of these kids and lay down the law. It was embarassing for the entire league to see that sort of display.

It was embarassing for the entire league to see that sort of display. That was not a dance by Morgan. You must not see him wrestle much or you would know better. He does that "bounce" both before and after most of his matches. He does it sometimes during timeouts or injuries. It is something the Twisters do in practice to maintain stamina. It is know as bouncing. He usually will run after a match but there was no where to run, so he was bouncing. It was never meant as disrespect so please don't say it was. Besides athletes should be allow to show some emotion or joy after wins just like they show sorrow when they lose. Just don't pull out Sharpies or moon crowds.

As far as Brown, it was a bad call. Should he of throw his headgear. No! The ref took a team point and the coaches talked to him. All teams and coaches have emotional kids and displays of displeasure. I did not hear the swearing and if he did that it is wrong.

How do you know that was Argues parent? What should the coaches say to a parent or fan? Come on man. It is the CCL and tempers flare. Last year when the call went against Providence they were not on their best behavior but everyone understood the emotions involved.

Coaches at MC have control and emotional displays are the minor not the major.

Thats right it is the CCL thats why we should show more class than that.
And as for the "bounce" thats what it may be but you know appearances are what is judged. And if thats the case why didnt he do it after he beat his longtime friend Webster. By the way great match. Morgan maintained his composure well after being thrown, he may finally get some hardware this year.
And if a coach has control the parents and fans fall in line.
Brantley and Futrell conducted themselves with class after losses and Jordan did after a big win. I just expect better from this type of team and you should as well.

Nothing new that's the way that team has always been, coaches change the names change but the actions stay the same. It would be wrong to blame it on the whole team they have always had wrestlers who act with more class then others I never understood why they would want to be a part of that program.

Your points are well taken and to some degree make sense. As far as my son goes, it is exactly what I told you. I can't tell you why he did and why he didn't against Webster. But since you are talking sportsmanship tell it all. Did you see him extend his hand to Webster when the match ended and Thomas was on the ground, help him up and hug him? That is positive sportsmanship too. I just know that Mario wrestles on the competitive edge all of the time but he never disrespects the other wrestler or crosses the line. To my knowledge he has only received one unsportsmanlike penalty since entering high school. I know he respects Zimmerman and would never try to show him up. Maybe he was just feeling good about getting to the finals. I do know he will NEVER throw his head gear and he does not curse or use profanity. I don't tolerate that and would of came off that stage and kicked his ....with no reservation. That part would be bigger than wrestling, the CCL or Mt Carmel to me. That would be about disrespecting the Morgan name. We have a long sporting history and our own rules that must be followed first. And he knows that. But I will not ever take away his self expression for winning or losing. And you are right old112 apperances are everything. I can understand why you would think that. So now you know the reason behind that particular apperance. Sorry if that sounds like an excuse but it is not.

Thanks for the compliment on his wrestling. Leaving the football and baseball team and wrestling full time is starting to pay off. But there is still another month of wrestling so we will see where it goes from here.

As far as others actions I really have no total explanation. They are really not my problem. I just keep the 125lber in line.

Addressing the "bounce" displayed by Morgan ... I have noticed over the past 5 years that most former Harvey Twisters "bounce" after a match. Yes, the "bounce" may be a bit more enthusiastic after a when but it is a bounce just the same. Albert White "bounced" after his win.

You are right, you can only control your own. I understand the emotion of wrestling very well and would never look down on a kid for for showing some emotion within reason. I seen nothing wrong with the way Mario acted at the ccl's.
