Bob Jahn Memorial Scholarship Fund
"Aiming for success ~ both on and off the mats"
Bob Jahn was an active member of the wrestling community for over 25 years. Whether he was wrestling, coaching or just a spectator, Bob loved the sport. When he was coaching, he taught the kids that there was more to wrestling than just winning. You needed to have the dedication, the desire, and the discipline to become a great wrestler. Bob’s idea of a great wrestler was not someone who won all of his matches. His ideal wrestler was one who knew how to win and lose with grace. He knew that if he was taken down 8 times, he would have to get up 8 times. He was a fighter and not a quitter. He also knew the 3 things every wrestler needs to know ~ the score, how much time is left and where you are on the mat.
Bob also believed in getting an education as well. He encouraged wrestlers to use their talents on the mats to help them get an education. Bob believed that a diploma in your hand was just as important as standing on the winners stand and getting that medal around your neck.
Bob’s family and friends have set up a scholarship fund in his memory. A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to 1 graduating wrestler in Illinois. If you are interested in applying for the scholarship, please download the application (http://illinoismatmen.com/rwj_scholarship.doc).

Submission Deadline ~ March 10, 2006
