Who are some of the undefeated kids still left in the state? Two that i know of are Hafflenger at 215 from Harvard and Holder at 130 from Stillman Valley.

Haeflinger lost to Rob Panayi from Palatine Fremd, and it was at the Harvard tourney, so i think that counts as a loss (please correct me if I'm wrong). So it seems that Holder is the only technically undefeated wrestler left that I know of.

Yes, Dan lost a tough match in the Harvard 16 team finals to Panayi. As far as I know, that's his only loss this year so far.
Isn't the little Clark kid from Orion still undefeated? What about DeCap?

If I am correct, Chuck Piertz from Rock Island Alleman at 152 is still undefeated, as well as Drew Decap from Riverdale, and Blanton from Richmond Burton. Piertz has beaten Long from Riverdale, Graybill form Dakota, Kuebel from Fulton, along with a few other ranked kids at 152. I am sure there are more, probably from the south, but thses are ones I am pretty sure of.

Ben Kuebel lost twice this weekend in the Clinton tournament to finish fourth. One loss was due to a bad call in the semi's. Both losses were to guys who wrestled very defensively. Wenger beat Norberg 5-3 at 189 last night.

I think that the records do not really matter when it comes state time. At state, everyone is wrestling 0-0 and going balls-out everymatch knowing it could be their last match of the season if they lose. So for those guys that are undefeated like Tom Holder( who is very tough but has been tested very few times so far) you need to keep your mind off your record and wrestle your best. Best of luck to you Tommy and the rest of the Cardinals.

Spartan,
Your seeding in regionals is based on your record, and an undefeated record against good competition will almost certainly get you the 1 or 2 seed. Then, depending on numbers could get you a bye or more favorable position in the brackets. That may not be a lot, but it is worth it.

Chuck Pieritz (Rock Island) Alleman is still undefeated... I feel he will be tested greatly at the sectional...
DeCap wont be tested untill state...
Clark (Orion) wont be tested at all... the way things are looking right now....
Wenger wont really be tested at all either...
Holder should have a good sectional feild to compete with, I feel he will most likely win it... But when state rolls around he better be ready....
Blanton is undefeated... and is tough as hell for a freshman....
When looking at records... It is also important to notice those guys with fewer than 6 loses... Why? Because some kids wrestle an easier schedule... Lets take Conor Beebe and put him in a Orion singlet... He goes undefeated, but now he is in the Montini singlet and he has a few marks in the loss column. I always try to tell wrestlers dont look at the records, because they dont always tell the story! It all about who you have wrestled.... Not the nobodies you beat!!!

In my experiance, while it is a tremendous feat to go undefeated for the whole season, or even half, sometimes it is good to get that loss before the state series starts because it teaches a wrestler how to deal with the loss. I have seen many great wrestlers get beat in sectionals and still have the tallent to make it out and still place at state, but since they didnot know how to deal with the loss mentally from that year, they see it as a letdown, and do not know how to recover from it. Year after year, you will see a guy with a great record who is expected to make it to the finals of sectionals, or win it, get beat in the semi's, and someone with 8,9, or ten losses on his record comes along and beats him in a close match, and I feel its because they have delt with the loss, and know how to wrestle back with the mentall toughness that is needed there. Losses during the regular season aren't always a bad thing, they can be a blessing in disguise.

Wenger and Winterhalter have been bumping up the last couple of weeks due to an injury and 215 so Wenger wreslted Norberg. Wenger won 5-3 in one of the best matches I've seen in a long time. Wenger was just to tough on his feet and wrestled a really smart match. Gotta give props to Norberg though, he was a class act. Look forward to seeing him match up with Winterhalter in a couple of weeks.

If your talking about the wrestler who lost at 152 against Rock Falls, it wasnt Pieritz.... He was at 145 on Tuesday night and improved his record to 32-0 with a win by maj. dec.... Then tonight he won by tech fall over the moline wrestler... So therefore Pieritz is still undefeated...

I would like to say as a former undefeated state champ it is alot of pressure to go into the state series undefeated. The one thing to remember is just take one match at a time and the record will follow. Tom Holder I want to say congrats on your season and good luck. As to all wrestlers good luck undefeated or not cause in the state series all it takes is for one mistake you see it year after year "another one bites the dust".
