The second season is among us.

IKWF Dual State on Sunday and the IHSA has regionals Saturday. As everyone knows, when the IHSA state series is over the IKWF's starts. It won't be long now. The Dual State Tournament is one great event. I don't know why more teams don't get into it. It would be great if the Twisters, and Fox Valley got in every year.

Danville, IL.

The Palmer Center is a great place to host an event like this. And even tho the drive from the Chicago-land area stinks, it's only fair to our Southern clubs. Let's not forget, individual state is in Rockford again. Also, if you wanted to make a long weekend out of it, U of I host Iowa Friday @ 6:30-Huff Hall. For you LCWC/Providence fans you will not get to see our very own Donny Reynolds wrestle. He was hurt in Cleveland at the National Duals.

4-peat??

Martinez Fox Valley Elite goes for their fourth consectitive State Dual title. Maybe not the team they had last year, but still very good. They are led by Colton Rasche(79), Joey Uccardi(84), T-Ram(Tony Ramos-95), Mark Stenberg(108) and Mr. Albanese(275). Quite the all-star cast. Four in a row has never been done. The last club to win three in a row was the Villa-Lombard Cougars. They won Dual State in 1992-93-94. WOW!!!

Streak stoppers...

In 1995 Villa-Lombards streak was stopped by an up-start club from New Lenox, Il...the Little Celtics. The Little Celtics won Dual State in 1995 and went on to win Dual State the next year(1996), showing that 1995 was no fluke. The Lil' Celtics are led by a young but very competitive group. This year looks bright, but the coming years will be dynamite. Along with the Little Celtics, the Harlem Cougars, Orland Park Pioneers, Edwardsville and them peskie Vittum Catz will be trying to put a halt to the Martinez Elite streak.

Parity: the quality or state of being equal or equivalent

Like every year, I think you're going to have some very close duals in every round this year. Including the finals. Round one: Edwardsville and Vittum, Vittum will be a different team then we saw at the sectional/divisional. Edwardsville will cover their weights and they have some very good kids too. Round two: Here's where it's going to get interesting. Little Celtics and the Blackhawks...I'm here to tell ya, the Blackhawks will give the LCWC more trouble then people think. If the littlest Little Celtcis don't pound on the Blackhawks in the lower weights you could see an upset. If Villa-Lombard gets past the Golden Eagles they will face the Southern champs...Granite City. I think that could be a tight dual too. I think Orland Park will beat Murphysboro and dual Harlem in round two. That too could be a close one. Semis will be good, the wrestle-backs will be good. Let's face it.."it's all good baby!"

Prediction time...

Don't roast me to bad, but no one else has even made a prediction yet. So I will.

Cheif's message from the teepee........The war cries are beginning.......The Jr Warriors have many brave scouts eyeing out the competition. All the squaws are packin' the bags for their young warriors, while chanting prayers to the one above. The Chief instucts his young warriors to remain tightlipped until after the duals, and continue with multiple sweat offerings to the wrestling gods. Rumor is he desires scalpings. Good Luck to you all, but hopefully better luck to us...lol. See you Sunday.

Caveman thanks for the vote of confidence. All the teams are tough but we like our "side" of the bracket. We hope to make it that far into the semis against MFVE. Believe me we are not looking past Murphysboro or Harlem especially.

On another note, my apoligize for the bracketing mix up last week. IF you think about it, the right kids were on the right side of the bracket however they should not have wrestled until the 2nd round not in the 1st. That mix up came when the H.S. kids did the bracketing of bouts. Again, I am sorry, I should have stayed on top of it better.

John,

No worries, got to wrestle the best to be the best. I think you guys got a good shot in the duals and it wouldn't suprise me in the least if it were you guy's and the Little Celtics in the finals. Both of you guys have solid line ups but you both are going to need help from the little guys.

Good Luck

Not sure if the Central location is hurting the Midget State and the State Duals. Would I like to see it any place but Danville? Oh yeah, I would, south, north who cares just not Danville! With that said, now about the State Duals.

Now I guess I missed something because every time I see something good voted in they change it. It was a 16 team bracket last year and now it is a 12 man bracket? Now how is this expanding wrestling in Illinois?

If I'm not wrong the walk-over rule is back also. Oh well, 1 step forward and 3 steps back every time something starts to make sense.

As for the State Duals my pick is the Lil Green Man, power in numbers, they are a huge team again much like they were a few years back.

As for teams that dont enter the state duals, I glad Orland Park has make the choice to start attending a few years back always thought they were a good dual team. Fox Valley wont never enter the state duals, part of the reason the club split a few years back. The Twisters dont enter because they dont like to show their poker hand is my guess.

Harlem is not the team of old, they have split many times (Stillman Valley, Fightin Titans, Hononegah, plus others - etc.) with the former coaches starting other clubs. One ego problem still seems to still be on going problem in this club or maybe it?s just fact the club funds picking up the bar tab after the wrestling meets.

Martinez Fox Valley is one of the best teams money can buy (except one other), but without saying they may not be buying the title this year. I see Bickle is back, coaches watch this one he has gotten alot better in his 2 year break from the Valley.

Now the team that takes the cake for the most over-priced team/club/school whatever has to the OVERTIME. Ok they have a decent coaching staff well at that cost you could get most any Div 1/2/3 college coach staff also to private tutor your kid in wrestling for the off season/season break. Some one once said Martinez just took the best from the rest, well it seems OverTime can claim that title now also. If your not already a state qualifier or national all-american they wont take your $2000.00 because you wont look good in there uniforms getting beat. The funny thing is when was the last time you seen a OverTime kid win in OT (the name does not fit). I will give the staff props for opening in the Chicago Metro area (Naperville) with its what near 4 millions combined population. With those numbers geez, I would hope a few of the students enrolled would do well at State/Nationals. I am all for expanding your success in wrestling but not really a fan of means to get to the goal. Someone remember the saying "a fool and their money are soon parted".

Dakota not seem much of them this year, but if they are smart a little work could tap into the unexplored talent laying in wait the salty town of Freeport. A branch club of Dakota wrestling team based in Freeport could put this town on the radar and bring them from the fight to be last place in the Nic9 Conferance and Quad City Regionals.

Villa-Lomard always the dark horse of the duals, they seem to have something on Harry Potter cause they always come out of no where with a good dual team.

Golden Eagles boy has this club turned the high school into something or what they seem to do what many of other clubs dont, keep the kids on the team and on the wrestling mat. Maybe it's having a high school coach interest the youth wrestlers he will coach in the future that is the secret, time will tell since this years Jacob team is the best they have had yet. As for the youth team no idea, my pick is the C-L Wiz but the Wiz are not in the duals this year.

Tinley Park with Razzy_Dawg muzzled this year (or so it seems) the Bulldogs could surprise those that think they are in a rebuilding year.

A little off the topic ... oh well its all wrestling .....

Good luck to all and I would like to see a little more exposure for the State Duals. What is the point of having it if you're not going to put the kids in the spot light.

My thinking is: OK this year there are 12 teams. Now we have a good idea who is wrestling where so why not have the line ups available for the fans/coaches etc. No one is asking for exact line up just a little INK for those wresters and teams represented in the State Duals.

With 12,000 (est.) members this year north to south, east to west in the state of Illinois, I have not seen much INK related to the IKWF, years past at least there was some talk (good or bad) but this year has been a bore and a let down so far. Marketing and Communication seems to be lacking this year not sure what the deal is this year. The IKWF website still is poor on usefull and good information considering all the action every weekend. My guess is the tourney directors are just to lasy to summit results. On second thought there is really no where to send them anyways. The high schools seem to have been lasy most of this year also, lack of results makings for a dull year, youth or high school. Ok so the IKWF has several new officers and now we are in year #2 of their terms and I have not seen anything they have brought to the IKWF table that was anything worth mentioning that has bettered or expanded the IKWF.

The Junior-Midget/Bantum/Fresh-Soph State was laughed at for a number of years when it was started by the IWF. Ok now they are just cash cows for others, ok so be it, not my care since it has continued with what others started to expand the opertunities for the IL youth wrestling community.
Does anyone know what registered IKWF club is on record as the HOST of the Junior-Midget State (unknown), Bantum State (Tinley Park-I think), Fresh-Soph State. Another interesting thing is who is the registered IKWF club on record as the HOST of the Winter Nationals? All events do have to be registered IKWF sancationed events and hosted through a IKWF chartered club, correct? Official IKWF State Series is the Novice-Senior State but unless an event HOSTED by the IKWF (like the IKWF KIDS OPEN) any club should be allowed to host an event on that date. Meaning although the Winter Nationals does add an oppertunity to wrestle how is it fair to the IKWF chartered clubs that an outside organization can host an event before its' chartered members are allowed to sancation their event for the year. Unless the Winter Nationals is Hosted by the IKWF and sancationed by its board members all clubs should be entitled to host an event on the same date if they wish. With all the clubs and the limited amount of Sundays, there should be a push to start the season sooner. Saturdays is always a good day also for an event but basketball games limits the use on this date far more than the dad getting to watch agrument.

Off topic again and having things to do before the NIC-9 Conferance.

I'm gone!
