It was brought to my attention that Illinois College, an NCAA Division III member of the Midwest Conference, recently dropped their wrestling program. The following is a short article from the Jacksonville Journal Courier or read the complete IC press release (http://www.ic.edu/athletics/news/news_story.asp?iNewsID=858&strBack=/athletics/Default.asp). Send your questions and comments to IC's Athletic Director Gale Vaughn at gfvaughn@ic.edu.

IC drops wrestling, adds swimming
BY MATT WING

In an effort to align its intercollegiate athletic program with the rest of the Midwest Conference, Illinois College will drop wrestling and add men’s and women’s swimming as school-sponsored sports. IC Athletic Director Gale Vaughn announced the change Wednesday. The wrestling program’s head coaching position, currently held by Tom Rowland, will also be eliminated. Rowland, an IC alumnus who spent five seasons (1998-2002) as the school’s head football coach, coached the wrestling team for 28 seasons.
