Chad Hay will be moving to Conant HS next year, leaving a head coach opening at Mahomet-Seymour. Teaching opening are expected in art and math. Contact Marty Williams at mwilliams@ms.k12.il.us or 217-586-4962.

Tough to say with the limited teaching positions open. I know for sure that Marty Williams would prefer to have someone in the building as the head coach. If that doesn't happen, they could consider moving James Heinold up from the Junior High program-- but I don't know whether he would be interested. As a maybe they could coax Tom Porter out of retirement for another year or get a UI alum who is still in the area waiting for something to open up.

Why did Coach Hay move on. Was he upset with something at Mahomet or was he just looking to get back up north? That is unfortunate... he seemed to be just establishing his own thing over there. It takes some time to get your own thing going and I hope he was not just frustrated with the situation.

I hope and believe it was for positive reasons. He told me that he and his new fiance wanted to live in the Chicago area. In a couple of years he should be doing his own thing in Hoffman Estates. I wish him the best of luck.

I gotta imagine that the Conant gig would be damn near impossible to turn down...especially if you want to live in the Chicago burbs. Lots of support, one of the highest paying districts in the state, soild program, solid kids club. Best of luck!

Conant would be a great place to coach wrestling for sure. However, Mahomet is also an awesome program which can stack up to Conant just fine year in and year out. I think Chad was hired on as an assistant at Conant next season for coach Kane. Is this the situation or is Kane moving on?

As I understand the plan, he will be an assistant for 2 years, then take over the program.

Has a coach been hired for Mahomet High School yet?

If they can get someone who can fill a teaching opening in the high school, you might hear something. But if they have to get a coach from outside the building, I would not expect them to announce a coach until the Fall.

Just heard thru the grapevine that Mahomet has offered the head coaching job to a coach from Normal West. Can't remember the guy's name.

If true, I assume that would be Dave Lehr, he also teaches Math. Heinold should have been the natural choice if they did not bring in a successful, established coach from outside M/S. Can DD confirm or deny this rumor?

Rob Ledin former Clinton coach.

So what's the word... is Ledin the man?? He would be a good fit. He seems to be really involved in central Illinois wrestling.

... will be head coach in Mahomet. Does anyone know who will take over the Morton program?

Ledin left Morton last year and took a teaching job in Normal. He didn't coach wrestling this year.

Why didn't he help coach last year at NCHS or at one of the junior high schools in Unit #5?
I have heard from some kids that he was going to take over for Cooper at Chiddix next year?
Good opportunity for him at M/S though.

He did help out at Chiddix throughout the year last year. Coach Ledin and Coach Jude were going to coach at Chiddix until Ledin took the job in MS. Now it is just Coach Jude at Chiddix. I don't know who else is going to be there.
