I know this will basically be Burlington and Sandwich squaring off, but does anyone want to take a shot at predictions? I will give mine in a few days...

Its funny, Sandwich will duke it out with BC on saturday and send all 14 kids to sectionals, because the IHSA recalculated and Sandwich stayed in class A by two kids! Otherwise, they probably would have went to the Naperville North regional in AA and duked it out with Naperville North, West Aurora, Waubonsee, Oswego etc. and been lucky to send three (rud, Olson and possibly Warpecha)

For example, Forester would probably be unseeded at regionals instead of looking to head directly to the medal stand at Champaign. (he would have Gochis from Waubonsee, Larson form Oswego, Graves from West Aurora and Trocin from Naperville North)

Sandwich should be kneeling down and thanking those two kids that never were really there!

First of all...that's not even close to what happend. The IHSA says that the largest 40% of schools go double A, Sandwich was not in that largest 40%. It's really simple, it was a mathematical error. It was pointed out and the IHSA fixed it.

Second, your post makes no sense. Forester killed Larson at the Kaneland tournment something like 8-2: one of those points being a penalty slam, the other forester letting him go. Also, the only time they ever met, Forester teched Gochis. I've seen Graves wrestle, if you think he would beat forester then you're out of your mind. Better do some checking be for shooting off at the mouth.

Third, you are forgetting about that other kid sandwich has in skorup. There is no way he doesn't get out. Sifft has as good of a shot as anyone as well.

Do your research before spouting ignorantly because of some bad blood you have against sandwich.

I agree 100% with your assessment. Why do the AA guys always think the Class A guys are all puds? Then when the Class A guy wins, it is luck but when the AA guy wins, it was to be expected. help me out before regionals. Who has beaten Rud, Norton, and Skorup this year? I know Ryan beat Rud at the Reaper but that's all I have. I read Skorup got stuck by Wellendorf which boggled me but Wellendorf has wrestled a good season so far.

When you say Norton, I assume you mean Forester, the third of the three Sandwich stud wrestlers.

Rud has lost to Ryan this year and Danny Malouf at the Harvard tournament, plus Gagan from Lincoln Way Central.

Forester has lost to only somebody from Lincoln Way Central while he was wrestling 145 in OT.

Skorup has lost to Romito from Kaneland at 160 the first meet of the season, the 145 pounder from Plainfield South who he beat the second time 7-1, and to Wellendorf. But I don't think that will happen again, as anyone who saw the match will tell you.

Why do all of you think Wellendorf over Skorup was a fluke?

As I recall Wellendorf was up 7-5 before sticking Skorup.

Just because Wellendorf isnt a wel known wrestler like skorup deosnt mean it was a fluke. Both are good wresters and neither should be overlooked.

BNC Fan,

Since I assume it was my comment that caused the stir, I will respond. At no time did I infer that Wellendorf was not a good wrestler. In fact, I thought I mentioned that he was having a great season. But I have watched both Skorup and Wellendorf over the years and I believe that if they wrestled 10 times, Skorup would win 7+ times. Just my opinion. I think Wellendorf could go deep into sectionals and possibly beyond if he goes 152. By the way, is his brother going 140 or 145 for regionals? The reason I ask is that I know he has wrestled a lot at 140 this year but I thought I read in the paper that he won his conference at 145. He, too, has had a great season. Best of luck to both brothers and the entire Burlington Central team this weekend.

BNC Fan,

Thanks for the update. Is Jon, then, going to stay at 145? After winning 145, I would guess he'll go 145. Who beat Glenn in the semis?

I know many people are thinking Norton will win 135 but I'm going with Schuck. It's his year and I think he'll be standing on the medal stand in Champaign. Sometimes when I do a prediction, it's like the kiss of death to someone but I feel pretty confident in my 135 prediction. My guess is the Plano order at 135 will be Schuck, Norton, and Turner.

I saw Leos a few times this year and he looked great. But I heard he's been beaten a few times the past couple of weeks. Were his losses to tough guys or guys he should have beaten?

Jon Wellendorf will go 152 for regionals.

Anyone who saw the Warpecha and leos match would have known that Leos, who was picked to win, was infact winning 5-3 before taking a horrible shot and getting put to his back, I think the match will have a much different result if they see eachother on saturday

Do your research before spouting ignorantly because of some bad blood you have against sandwich.I thought AA is the largest 60% of schools. I believe this is correct on the basis that AA has twice as many sectionals.
