Due to an oversite by the wrestling coach Alleman is forced to share the WB6 title with UT. This article in QC times has all the details. What effect this has on Saturdays regional remains to be seen. Not having the head coach available is a big factor.

Rock Island Alleman, which appeared to clinch the Western Big Six Conference wrestling title last weekend, will forfeit its outright championship because five of its wrestlers participated in too many dual meet matches this season.
Four of the five wrestlers in question who posted victories over Galesburg on Friday must forfeit their individual wins, plus the Pioneers must forfeit their team win because of the violation. They will share the title with United Township.
Alleman coach John Wetherell self-reported the violation when he became aware of the Illinois High School Association by-law 5.163 which says, “Students who participate on a school squad in boys wrestling may participate in no more than 21 matches in any one season exclusive of tournaments.’’
The Galesburg meet in which the five Pioneer wrestlers participated was their 22nd dual.
In addition to the forfeit, Wetherell will not be allowed to coach the team during Saturday’s regional competition at Riverdale High School but could return the following week at the sectional meet should Pioneer wrestlers advance. The Alleman program will be on probation through the 2005-06 wrestling season.
Assistant coach Sean Hoover will direct the team Saturday.
The probationary status does not deprive the school or wrestlers involved in the program of any of their privileges to compete Saturday. Alleman must submit a written plan detailing corrective measures it will take to make sure the school is in compliance with the by-laws.
“It’s an unfortunate situation,’’ Wetherell said in a statement. “I feel responsible for what has happened, but I am sure the kids will put this behind them and channel their energies toward the upcoming regional.
“They are a fantastic group of young men and I want nothing but what is best for them.’’
When Alleman defeated Moline last Thursday, plus Quincy and Galesburg in a double-dual Friday, it was the 5-0 Pioneers’ first league title since 1972. The three dual wins had boosted the team’s overall record to 21-1, but it will now revert to 20-2.
“With the forfeiture of the win over Galesburg, we will now share the title (with United Township),’’ Alleman athletic director Larry Schulte said. “This does not in any way diminish the accomplishments made by the Alleman wrestlers during the regular season, and was not done to gain a competitive edge.’’
