"Overall we had good intensity and a very competitive intrasquad match," said head coach Dave Grant. "There were a lot of even matches. We got good performances out of our younger guys, who competed very well. Our redshirt class from last year is really coming into play."

The Red stormed out to 9-0 and 18-3 leads. Freshman Pat McLemore posted a 13-4 victory over senior Justin Metcalfe at 141 and fellow freshman Duke Burk notched a 16-4 victory over Derick Lalowski in a major decision.

Burk's brother, Danny, scored an 22-7 tech fall victory over Bryan Deutsch at 174 to help contribute to the Red team's win.

Pat Castillo, ranked as high as 12th nationally at 125, posted an 7-6 win for the Black team over John Weinert.

NIU opens its regular season on Nov. 11 at the Pointer Open in Stevens Point, Wis.

I know Galloway was injured, but what about last year's starters Sapp & Hunsinger?

Cornejo & Grimes looks like it lived up to expectations, lets see how the tourneys play out...

I think they will wait to see what happens in the first 2 open tournaments. They could meet up again at those tournaments.

For those that couldn't make it to wrestle-offs last night, here is the last minute of the Grimes vs. Cornejo match. Grimes got in on a shot late in the 3rd but couldn't finish. Cornejo won by a point on riding time.

Wow, tough loss for the Huskies. That's two returning starters and another previous starter...
