Wrestling in college isnt for everybody. I guess that they just didnt want it anymore, because I can say that things are going great here, and we have been working real hard. Wrestle-offs went great, and our team is gonna be ready for the tournaments.

Whats going on there? Only great things ! The new grant coaching staff is coaching to win. Quiters never had the heart in the first place. This team is working hard and jelling as a team.

We will be just fine. Things have never been better here, in the room and out of the room for our wrestling team. We are getting the right type of kids in the room, who want to work their butts off to improve in the sport. Our coaching staff has taken everything up a couple notches, pushing us harder than ever before in the mat room. It is a great thing to be a part of, and we are very excited for this season.
As far as people not being with the team any more, thats a decision that some people have to make at certain points in their lives. College wrestling is a grind, and if your heart isnt in it, it is hard to keep going to practice everyday. There is NOTHING negative going on with our program. Nothing at all. The kids that are no longer around are great people and are still friends of mine. But, like I said, things are being taken to a new level here at NIU, and not everyone wants to put in the work to go to that next level. We are going to be fine, this year and in the future.
Thanks for the support. Dec 8th vs Northwestern, in Evanston. Dec 10th vs Wisconsin, at home.

NIU Wrestling is doing very well this year. I want to say a special congrats to Mike Grimes for winning Midlands! Way to go.
Dave Grant is a great wrestling coach and their assistant staff are terrific as well.

If you watch, many college programs have similar roster changes. In some cases injuries and in others finding out college wrestling is a big jump from high school. As a downstater, I can't wait to watch Scott Penny at NIU. Good luck to NIU as they are a great program and do a great job representing Illinois wrestling.
