To ALL who attended,

We appologize for the late start. We had several things go wrong with printers, one out of 4 computers bit the dust. We did recover and things for the most part went well. We are still here finishing up the Midgets there are 1 matches left. Novice and Senior were finished by 2:45. This was the first time in 9 tournaments that I had any problems of any kind.

Midget Division Results will be coming Shortly. WE understand this is a Midget Qualifer. The results that will posted here may NOT reflect the correct Division. I just wanted to get them out as soon as possible. A second posting will be coming with the weight divisions according to Midget State weight Divisions.

I again want to apologize for any inconvience that we may have caused. We appreciate everyones patience.
We had 583 wrestlers and 19 different teams.

Regards,

Gene Akers

This was the worst tournament that I have been to in a long time. It is pretty bad when the tournament was suppose to start at 9 and doesn't start until after 10. Then some of the kids didn't wrestle their first match until after 1:30. Yeah ok we got out around 3:00 but that also meant that the kids that didn't start until 1:30 or so didn't get the adequate down time between matches! These kids had to deal with the long wait and then hurry up and wrestle 3 matches so we can get out at a half way decent time. And on top of all of that they had to settle for some of the worst Refs!!!!!! I hope that everyone decides to go to another tournament next year, I know we will!

Pinem2 it sounds like you were unhappy with how things went today and
that is your right. However, as I stated before I have ran 9 other tournaments over the last 2 years and 5 alone this year. EVERYONE started on-time or Earlier. I can only offer you another apology. We had a couple of issues which caused us to start later than expected. I as well as our Club is not perfect and we will improve on the issues that caused us grief. Please send me an email and let me know which club you are from and let me know which refs were poor in your opinion. gene.akers42@sbcglobal.net. I would appreciate your thoughts/comments.

Sorry you had such a bad time @ the tourney, PINEM2, but all is not perfect in this world. Problems pop up, and those who react well to such problems usually finish the task at hand. An apalogy was given, with a very sincere tone. I suggest finding another tourney next week that suits your liking. Lots of luck!!! I don't believe any tourney is foolproof. All of them have pluses and minuses. But if you still insist on bashing, find another one to attend next year. Just leave the critiquing to those who know what they are talking about and who have a more open mind.

OMG...there's been a "Mat-Tick" sighting!!!

Hey Tick...I hear the Little Indians are stepping up to the plate and attending the Tholl Elite. That's great!

Good luck and we'll see ya there:)

There have been plenty of tourneys that ran well this year. They started when they said they would and the mats didn't have alot of down time. Apology was accepted but that doesn't change the problems of the tourney. I guess we shouldn't depend on computers as much and do things the old fashion way. Write it out. I am sure Minooka wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they didn't have someone like you to tell others where to go and what to say. I think my mind was open and I wasn't the only one who thought things weren't the greatest. Even some of your own people weren't happy.

Pinem2 you are probably right about there being plenty of tournaments that started on-time or close to it, but there have been plenty that didn't. I have been to them all. The same is true about the how smoothly the tournaments ran (some good and some bad). You and your club can run your tournament as you see fit. I would NEVER recommend our club to write brackets out by hand after having the HUGE successful tournaments in the past using the computer system that I have developed. Again, we had some problems and we as a club didn't respond as well as we could have but that could be because in the last 4 years we NEVER had any issues of any kind.

We as a club tried to improve our already great tournament by trying to go to "No Bullpin" format which was also a great contributor to our problems. We have identified this as a major problem and will correct it next year. Finally as far as our own people not being happy with the way things went, you're right. We have always counted on our tournament as being the highlight of our schedule because as I said before it has ALWAYS been one of the best overall tournaments during the season. Myself as well as our club has a lot of pride and genuine concern for the wrestling community and when things didn't go well as they have in the past you are exactly right WE WEREN'T HAPPY!

Gene,

you guys do a fantastic job with all your tournaments. i remember a couple years ago we TOTALLY OVERBOOKED our tournament... one of your Mom's from your club tore me a new @$$... I looked at her, smiled, and said "live and learn!"

When my parents said something this weekend... i told them all to cut you guys some slack... you had to put up with our cluster-YUCK above mentioned earleir....

It's that simple. We all live and learn... We havent had a problem running a tournament since and you wont have one again either.

We'll always want to come to your tournaments... mark us down for next year and years to come...

Take care....

to those of you who have been to our previous tournaments, thanks for your support. we all worked very hard and yes, we were very disappointed that we did not have the quality tournament that we are known for. things happened that were beyond our control but i think that we pulled up our boot straps and still managed to get everyone out at a reasonable time. to those that are complaining, understand that we did not work as hard as we did to have everything fall apart. i don't know what more you want from us other than an apology. it is easy to sit and complain about the tournament, the officials, etc. get over it. everyone who has ever run a tournament understands where we were and what it feels like to work hard only to have disappointment. wrestling doesn't need critics who sit and judge every tournament and official. wrestling needs parents, coaches, officials and spectators who are there for the kids. that means all the kids, not just your own. come down off your high-horse and remember that everyone you deal with at a tournament is a human being and no one is beyond making a mistake whether it being a mistake on a bracket, computers failing or an official making a bad call. until you've been in someone's shoes, keep your mouth shut. this is exactly why we have kids out on the mat throwing head gear and showing poor sportsmanship. teach your kids by example!

I attended your tournament with my son. He is a second year wrestler and our first visit to Minooka tournament.

Do not give up on the no bull pin approach. You need to try new things to improve. The biggest lessons in life are learned from our most trying circumstances.

We had a good day. Good competition. Mat 7 ref missed a few calls. I like the older refs with big beer bellies and scruffy beards.

Thanks for the hard work. I worked security at a tournament two years ago that ended at seven. It was like riot control! The folks working the head table needed valium afterwards :)

I was at a tournament that ran similarly to yours. No bullpen, all kids at the same mat all day. They did, however, have 1 bullpen at the beginning of the day to get the kids together in their brackets and set the mats at that time. it seemed to not have the confusion you had at the beginning of wrestling.

Just a thought.
