These are a lot easier to pick than the Oregon Sectional.

103 Norton - agree this week - Clark and/or Rush will beat him next week
112 Hannon - agree this week - I like Bybee next week
119 Rud - Ryan's quickness may beat Rud - both in finals next week
125 Beebe - no brainer - can't wait till next week vs. Walk and/or DeCap
130 Martin - another no brainer - look forward to seeing Winning next week
135 Schuck - my pick with Norton giving him some resistance
140 Benefiel - duh! - best in state at any weight
145 Skorup - I like Kimberlin and Peters to challenge him this week
152 Chapman - best in a weak weight class - anyone's weight next weekend
160 Vickers - Murphy 3-0 vs. Vickers - both can hang with Troye
171 Kilroy - best in a weak weight class - Wenger shaking in his boots?
189 Mucha - no one close to him till state - Norberg - here he comes
215 Vercelli - will Nasti wrestle or stall?-1 week till rematch with Haeflinger
275 Grant - should win the HWT Dance Contest this week

youve got to be kidding me if you think Fritz will break through!! Im on our J.V. and I almost teched him! other than that I agree that Lenig will make it out, obviously he has improved from last year along with Olson. you have got to be kidding me if you dont think Nasti will make it out, the kids a beast, yes he stalls, but hes still a beast, why do you think Gyminski bumped to 275? Lamont, Denney, Vercelli, Goebel, NASTI. also id take trammel out for Leos.

Please don't tell me you are one the Plano Fabulous freshmen! Your comments indicate you are from that area and after seeing your post on the IESA board, I think I'm correct. If a Plano upperclassman reads this, take your freshman puppy out and teach him some manners. And the correct order at Plano for 215 will be Vercelli, Doe, and Goebel.

Iwouldn't put Hannon in behind Warpecha and Trammel. Hannon already beat Trammel. I believe he majored him at their dual. I can't see Hannon not beating him again and my money is on Hannon beating Warpecha and Hannon and Trammel in the finals.

I think it'll be Hannon, Trammel, Warpecha,

Saturday will show.

The primary reason Gminski bumped up to 275 was to give Burlington a shot at the duals. It didn't pan out but the folks there apparently thought it was worth a shot.

Nasti has a lot to learn yet and going downstate will be a good experience for him.

On another note I thnk Doe has a great shot at beating Vercelli this year - for me 215 is the weight to watch this week!

All of these picks are just opinions and for fun, just like the rankings. I have seen all of these boys wrestle at least once or twice, some alot more than others. All of my picks are based on my OPINION from my observations of all of the boys; some have progressed alot more than others over the course of the season and some seem to finally be peeking at the right time. The way the brackets are set up has alot to do with who will end up taking 2nd or 3rd. Regardless of past performances and records, starting Friday it's back to square one because it does'nt make a bit of difference what happened before then; in alot of cases I truely believe it's going to come down to who wants it more. I think Willy and I have both been pretty accurate with our past predictions, I guess we will see this weekend....... Good Luck to all and GO 'CATS!!

I dont think Wenger is shaking in his boots, he beat the best that 189 has to offer and has not been taken down once this year.

My error in the post you are referring to. I was being facetious when I posted that comment about shaking in the boots. I think Wenger is the best wrestler in the state (behind Benefiel) and could win the title easily at 171 or 189. Best of luck to Wenger and the rest of the Dakota crew, especially against Montini at dual team state!

Wenger is just a physical speciman. He should be able to make the run this year to top off an outstanding junior season, and watch out, he comes back again as a senior. The kid will not be beat in his last two years of high school. Really impressed me last year, and with beating Noreberg this year, who will win 189, puts Wenger in a class of his own. Good luck to all wrestlers this weekened.

can i ask who doe wrestles and why does willy think doe will beat goebel, come on now think about this. doe wrestles most single A srcum teams, and who does goebel wrestle? AA powerhouses. to me it just doesnt make sense

Willy

Yes, Goebel wrestles mostly AA guys. Doe wrestles A guys. Vercelli battles hard every time he wrestles Doe. Vercelli takes Goebel down over and over again in their first meeting. Granted, one match does not determine how a guy will wrestle the same guy again. So talking about common opponents, Doe wrestled Vercelli better than Goebel. So I think Doe will wrestle Goebel just as hard. If Doe can hang with the Class A state champion (even though it is only Class A and not AA!), he can certainly hang with Goebel. Saturday will tell us the answer.

I do agree that Wenger is probably the second best Class A wrestler in the state. However, to say he would win 189 EASILY is pathetic and appears to be a statement based more on being a Wenger fan than actual results would indicate. Yes he beat Norberg but it was 5-3 and now that Clayton knows he can't overpower him it might be even closer and could go either way. And another thing, there are those out there that are not sure Mucha isn't the guy to beat at 189. Let's not get carried away.

Were you at this match because I was. At no time did Norberg try to overpower him nor is that even the style Norberg wrestles in my opinion. He doesn't rely on beating people on brute strength he's a good wrestler with great balance and technique who happens to be strong, that is why he is the defending state champ. He is not even the strongest 189 out there. Sorry but you sound like a biased Montini fan and the fact that you think Wenger can not bump up and win 189 has about as much validity as saying Benefiel could not bump up and win 145.
