I was there for about an hour this morning, had to leave. Northwest was winning alot of their matches. I seen a couple of Oak Park wrestlers, I guess the others had byes. It seem like MO kids were winning more than IL. I expect it to be Oak Park, then maybe NorthWest. The one wrestler that stood out was a kid named Cain right around 130 or so. There was a kid from Triad at 103 or 112 w/red hair, he seemed very good. Not sure if either were evn a top seed. I left around the 130lber's.

I think the top 5 are Oak Park, Northwest, Granite City, McCluer N, and Edwardsville.

Yeah I think that is about right. Most of the GC wrestlers got a good "blind draw" which seemed to help their chances. Anyone know how many on their team advanced to the second day?

Honestly, I like the format because you could see a preview of the finals match on the first day; however, the blind shuffle can knock some of the better kids out in the first day. Some of the brackets were a little loaded on one side (i.e. 145).

I also like the format. Makes it more exciting when each day you first see the bracket. Plus you get to see good wrestlers face each other twice like Winning vs. Bailey last year. There are often very tough, even state qualifying wrestlers that do not make the second day, but I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes. I heard that the last place team this year gets booted to add tougher teams next year. Did anyone hear any rumors of what teams will be added next year?

I say add Francis Howell Central! They are the top team in St. Louis metro rankings right now and they will have a lot of studs returning next year. Oh yeah... Blind Draw?!?! Let's just say I'm skeptical.

I heard a rumor that Fort Zumwalt West might be coming next year, but that wouldn't make alot of sense because they already see Northwest at the Fox duals and they see Oak Park at the Winnetonka tournament. The only reason I see is that they join because they want a piece of Granite City or to see a Missouri team (i.e Lindbergh and McCluer North) before Missouri districts or state. I also heard they want get some of the stronger teams from the Chicagoland area (Maybe a Mt. Carmel). Chicago Mt. Carmel makes alot better sense because they already come down to the St. Louis area to have a dual with Granite and are in the Gateway duals. Maybe, they want to replace the Gateways duals with the Granite Tournament, which is a step up in competition, and free up a dual date while still seeing Granite in the regular season. These are just rumors and you know how rumors are. Regardless, there are going to be some new teams for next year tournament.

I would love to see Francis Howell Central.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Was this your first experience of the famous Granite blind draw method? I am not complaining about it because I am getting use to it and I guess it is one of the advantages for hosting your own tournament.
