Very exciting dual. Some very good kids on both sides. Both teams will represent Central Illinois very well in Dekalb.

Who has the best dual team?
Bloomington? They beat Mahomet 63-32. That's Mahomet's only loss. Any teams better?

Is that the correct score? Who won for Mahomet? Probably easier to say that than who won for Bloomington! Anyone have the breakdown? I know Bloomington gets 12 points from forfeits right off the bat but that is still a slaughter! Maybe it was the flu? We will see come March!

Sorry guys(Mt. Zion), you have several very good kids...but not enough to win many duals. The top dual title probably goes to Bloomington. I think you have a chance at top four at state. This is the way I see it.
Bloomington has to be a favorite. They are solid in just about every weight. Do they have enough stand-outs? They could send 15-20 solid kids to state. Hard to beat those numbers.
Mahomet-Another favorite. They have more stand-outs than Bloomington. Can they get the numbers to state? Mahomet was moved to a different sectional which may have hurt them and helped Bloomington. They could have several in the finals.
Mt. Zion- Always have a few really good kids. Do they have enough to get top four? They don't have the kids that will win just a match or two. They are in the same sectional as Bloomington and Chiddix. Chiddix always produces a lot of solid wrestlers. If they have an upset...well that would hurt.
Dekalb Rosette- They have a very solid team. They could have a few kids in the finals. Waters, Dean, Girma, Mattison...who knows? I think they are in the hunt.
These teams have an outside chance.
Coal City, Dekalb Huntley, New Lenox, Wilmington, Lake Zurich North, Darien Eisenhower, and Harvard all have good wrestlers. I'm not sure they have enough.
I would put my money on one of the top four to win it all. Feel free to let me know what you think.

When the champ is chosen on the basis of tournament points it really all comes down to the semifinal matches. That's where the big points are scored. You score 11 points for winning a semifinal match, whereas you only score 4 more for taking first place. And in order to get to the semis you have already scored at least 9 points. Ten kids who win one top-bracket match score 20 points, so one finalist can score as much as a whole team! And if a kid can make it to the finals, he's probably going to have some bonus points along the way, too.
Good luck to all you wrestlers. Don't be satisfied with getting to State, though. Make it your goal to score as many points as you can once you get there.

Bloomington out-wrestled us. There were a couple of matches we won at the M-S Invite that swung the other way this time. It appears the Bloomington wrestlers really stepped it up to overcome their previous loss. Someone in an earlier post asked about the flu...we had two out sick, one injured (unrelated to wrestling, earlier that day) and one other who was unable to wrestle that night. We expect our second string to be able to step in and fill the space, so that is not an excuse.
We definately have our share of exceptional wrestlers that we are counting on carrying us at state.;)
