Anyone have results from any of the sectionals?

Some Granite City resuls:

103-Wilson GC 1st
?????? Glenwood Chatham-2nd
Antoff GC 3rd
124-Devine Quincy 1st
Warfield GC 2nd
130-Meyer Triad 1st
135-Ballard Triad 1st
145-Spencer 1st
157-Pennell Jacksonville 1st
Bleyer Carb 2nd

It was hard to recognize a lot of kids with the different singlets and could not hear very good in the stands. Devine and Warfield was a good match, but Devine looked like he was in control. Meyer and Spencer dominated their brackets. There were some competetive weights and ashamed Lance got hurt at 157. The other kid from Granite @157 wrestled pretty well for not wrestling for two years and had a lot of people pulling for him. The Pennell kid did a good job of beating Bleyer in the title match at 157. Some of the upper brackets were slim in numbers and did not see any real standouts. I also thought the officiating was very good for all the matches they had.

Congratulations on your win today! You wrestled very well and deserved to be champ. Lance was hurting very badly from what I heard or he would have given you a better match, but not sure he could beat you. I bet you were surprised when Thomas cut you with 30 seconds left because we all were. You still earned it with the late takedown! Good luck at state!

thanks, and you are right, i was expecting my match against Lance to be alot tougher, as i would have expected from all Granite City wrestlers(you guys have a great set up)
And not only was i surprised that he cut me, i was extremely happy cuz he a really good rider.
And the kid from Carbondale was the strongest kid i think i have ever faced.

were you there as a coach or just to watch?

I was there watching. I follow a lot of the Southern Illinois schools so I know a lot of the Edwardsville, Triad, and Granite City kids. Someone said Lance had a big scrape on his back from falling? The other kid in your weight from Granite hadn't wreslted in 2 years before last week and nearly caught Bleyer, Thomas and the kid from Quincy. He had all 3 of them in cradles and could not finish. He may have qualified at a lower weight or with a week or two of practice. Probably better he did not at this time though. I did not see the other kid from Granite who did not wrestle this year and made it thru regionals at 140 or 145. You will see Bleyer again from Carbondale before you finish high school and probably have some good matches. He is strong, but relies on his strength a little to much at times from what I see. Just my opinion.

I don't get it? If you have an opinion, why don't you state it. I was talking to a kid who just had a great weekend and likes to inquire about kids in his weight class. Does that bother you?
