Alright, well this is my first blog, and I'm not quite sure how it is supposed to go, but I'll try my best.
First off, I will give you a little bit of background information about myself. My name is Jordan Blanton, and I am a Junior at Richmond-Burton High School. This year my school moved up from Class A, where I was a two- time state champion at 152 and 160 lbs, to Class AA, where I finished second at 171 lbs.
This year went pretty well for me. I finished 40-1, and second in the state. I lost in the state finals to Mike Benefiel from Montini 8-2. Although it was disappointing to lose, I think that dealing with the loss, and getting past it will help me become a better wrestler. The previous two years, I went into the state tournament as a slight favorite, and left winning titles. This year I went in as an underdog, and didn't accomplish my goals. The taste I have in my mouth after this tournament is one that I'm not used to and also one that I don't want to become accostumed too. It was hard to see my season come to an end the way it did, but it is something that I will have to learn from, and something that will make me work that much harder to accomplish my goals. I have a ton of respect for Mike Benefiel, and want to congradulate him on all his accomplishments during his career.
Now that the season is over, I've kind of switched my training from folk style, to freestyle. I've started training with Isreal Martinez and his club, Izzy Style, and am looking forward to starting freestyle competition. I am not going to Junior Nationals in Virginia at the end of the month, but I will be out in Vegas at the Western Junior Regionals. I think that will be another good test for me to see where I am at against some of the best in the nation. I'll try and keep everyone posted on how my summer work-outs and competition are going. Please let me know if you guys have any questions, or want me to write about anything else.

P.S. This week I want to congradulate two people from my town on their seasons. My little cousin Jack Dechow won the Novice 130 state championship in Rockford, and Jeff Kukla finished 2nd at 117 lbs. in the Fresh/Soph State tournament in Chicago.
