1.) Marchok He's just a little bit better than the rest here.
2.) Settecase If he wrestles Bain like he did Howell at Palatine, Parker controls him and Bain can't beat an equal tacticion that is physically stronger.(If he wrestles Marchok like that it will be close!!) 3.) Randich Behind Marchok. 4.) Bain May not have his head back in it after loss.... |

You do now that these two split this year? With Randich pretty much dominating the second match? i think that means these two are pretty much even and the semifinals should be a good match.

1. Well we will see. Since him and Randich are 1-1 and Randich beat him the second time later in the season 2. Bain has already beaten Settecase and just had a tech in the Regional Finals over a wrestler with a 27-6 record 3. My pick Randich and Bain in the finals....or it could be Bain and Marchok 4. Who is the best soph 215lber in the state. Bain already beat Harrah at Dvorak is Marchok next??????? |

I went through these weights and looked at the way the brackets were set up before makin these choices. There are a lot of weights where draw will make all the difference for people, and as it always does. But there will be some great, great matches, thats for sure.
103 1. Davis 2. Gosinski 3. Pique 4. Shump Davis is looking solid at 103 after the cut. Even if someone had the same skill as him (which I don’t think anyone here does), his strength would give him the advantage. 112 1. Drendel 2. Schramm 3. Rubino 4. Gonzalez This weight class was tough to pick. I think there are matches that could go either way in the championship bracket (Drendel/Rubino, Schramm/Campos) that will have huge effects on who makes it out. Campos is good, but he wasn’t as impressive as he should have been at Regionals. In my opinion, he relies on his strength too much (which is his big advantage here). 119 1. Arlis 2. Cavallaris 3. Scully 4. Cummings Cavallaris is pretty big, and he’s pretty good. But Arlis is better. Also, I think Venecia is the fourth best at this weight class, but if he loses to Arlis in the quarters, he’s gonna end up wrestling back and getting Scully (or Cavallaris) in the consolation semis, and one of those guys won’t make it unfortunately (unless there’s a huge upset somewhere). 125 1. Gosinski 2. Nehls 3. Ruffino 4. DiNardo Gosinski is a step above everyone at this weight class, although I do think a match with Nehls would be a great one. After the first three, I really think there are about 4 people with the caliber to take fourth, but only two with the right spot in the bracket. Jauch will have Gosinski in the semis, then drop down to get Nehls or Ruffino, which doesn’t bode well for him. 130 1. Murphy 2. Savenok 3. Tardy 4. Scarano I think Murphy is going to avenge his overtime loss against Savenok from earlier this season if he gets the chance. Savenok and Soraghan should have a good match in the semifinals, with the loser likely drawing Tardy in the consolation semis. Scarano should benefit from a very good draw. Soraghan still has a good chance to qualify (I think he can beat Savenok and Tardy), but a second place finish at regionals would have been a better draw. Tardy and Murphy should be a great quarterfinal match here. 135 1. Patton 2. Valenzio 3. Pealstrom 4. Babej I’ll be honest – I don’t know much about this weight class. It’s probably the weakest weight in the sectional. Pealstrom looked good at regionals, but Patton is the only ranked guy at this weight. I see Pealstrom/Patton and Valenzio/Babej in the semis, and both are tossups. 140 1. Oyster 2. Kovalsky 3. Chino 4. Jacquez This is one of those weight classes in which the final is really the semifinal. I think Oyster will get the upper hand on Chino. Chino is a great wrestler, but I’m giving Oyster the edge. He’s been very successful at a heavier weight, and has the ability to get out of so many takedowns. Whoever loses this match should take third with no problem. Kovalsky is the clear favorite on the bottom half of the bracket. 145 1. Uccardi 2. Cizek 3. Hankin 4. Scimeca Uccardi vs Cizek round 4? Very, very possible. Hankin will want to avenge his loss to Cizek earlier this year, and he very well could do it, but I don’t think he will. I don’t think Cizek will do much against Uccardi either. Uccardi has wrestled Cizek better each time he has faced him this year. I don’t see another 10-1 decision, but I see Uccardi controlling the entire match. Uccardi and Hankin would be a great final too. 152 1. Congenie 2. Caprio 3. Brewster 4. Kubica This is Congenie’s bracket to lose, to be honest. He’ll have good matches the whole tournament if the bracket plays out the way I think it will (Jordan Ellingwood, Brewster, Caprio). Gebner has the quality to make it out, but he will get Caprio in the quarters, and then either Brewster, Kubica, or Congenie in the consolation semis, so I don’t see him getting out. 160 1. Proctor 2. Ellingwood 3. Moreno 4. Pack Proctor is just a monster. Ellingwood wrestled him very tough last week, but Proctor is the best guy in the state at 160 and isn’t going to be beaten the rest of this year. The consolation semi’s will feature Moreno and Anaya (or Ellingwood if Anaya beats him in the quarters), which is a shame because the two guys in that semi should be wrestling for 3rd, not to see who gets to wrestle for third. 171 1. Spangler 2. Pennisi 3. Balderas 4. Wahrman Spangler is looking really tough right now. I’m not going to say he won’t have a close match here, but he should clearly be in control of all his matches, even if the score makes them look close. He doesn’t get a warmup either – Balderas will be his first match. I think Malik is the fourth best guy, but an unfortunate draw will hurt him (Pennisi in the Semis, and if he loses, Balderas in the consolation semis). 189 1. Ward 2. LaManna 3. White 4. Kelly First things first; how is Kelly not ranked? Or at least HM? Now that I’ve said that, I honestly think these guys could finish in any order. Trevino also has a good chance to place here as well, as he’ll have LaManna in the quarters. If his loss to Kelly lights a spark under him, he’ll probably take Kelly’s spot in these placings. These guys all seem pretty even, so this is just an educated guess more than anything. Should be an interesting weight to watch. 215 1. Bain 2. Marchok 3. Randich 4. Settecase Wow. We have #s 2, 3, 5, 8, and 11 in the state here. Unfortunately, one of them won’t make it, and that one will be Fagan. I see Bain coming out ahead with a small upset here. I’ve seen him a few times and he looks better (and bigger) every time I see him. The semis, consolation semis, third place match, and finals match should all be great. 285 1. Howard 2. George 3. Smith 4. Ryan Howard is a big, big guy, but he’s pretty quick and agile, and he sometimes likes to wrestle like a little guy When he does, it’s like the other big guys just don’t know how to react to it. He’s pretty entertaining to watch, and a great athlete. I haven’t seen George or Smith, but Ryan is definitely good enough to make it out of here, and could very well place higher than fourth. |

Jauch will have Gosinski in the semis, then drop down to get Nehls or Ruffino, which doesn’t bode well for him. Rubino has already beaten Drendel twice, with the last score being 11-3. Rubino is too strong and a takedown machine. I don't see Drendel getting the "W" this time either. As good as Gosinski is, last Saturday at Regionals he had his hands full with Ruffino. He was losing by two with 30 seconds left, but managed a take down and 2 NF pts to beat the sophomore from St. Charles. I believe the next time they wrestle will be just as close with maybe a different outcome |

Oyster wins
Castiglione Wins Congenie wins in a very close 3rd period, 5-4 when Brewster shot in deep, got caught, and pinned. But it was INTENSE!
