It doesn't matter who is ranked what and who looks good, it matters who goes out on the mat and gets it done, period! Watching Iowa State and Iowa last weekend, an NCAA runner up got beaten by a kid who didn't even place in the NCAA tournament. He went out on the mat and got it done. Do you think before his match he was talking with his teammates and was worried about what the other wrestler was ranked? I doubt it. Rankings are fun to write about, but don't mean squat, so don't put too much thought into whether or not people think you are good. Go out, work hard, and prove it. Then we'll see who's good March 11th.
I agree that they dont really matter, and I agree that rankings are fun to write about. If you also think they are fun, why are you so sick and tired of hearing about what we have heard sooooo little of on the IESA board.
And in your IOWA scenerio.. Yes, I bet the unranked guy did discuss Or atleast think about how good his apponent was or where he was ranked.
Do I think that rankings actually mean that theat is where a person will stand on th epodium? Nope.. They are just for fun, and to create conversation.
Chill a little and let the kids have soem fun.
