Welcome! As for wrestling dying in college, it is not for the lack of younger participants. Participation is up at the youth levels to record numbers. There are issues afoot at the college level that have led to the demise of wrestling, including misguided Title IX enforcement and compliance mechanisms, funding, bias against the combative nature of wrestling by academic elites, poor flexibility and adaptibility by the wrestling community, a fan base that pays less and less attention to non revenue sports, and administrative lust for dollars from college sports teams, and popular marketing strategies that marginalize all but the "money sports" and other factors.
I agree, more young athletes are competing. However, money talks in an athletic department.
