Sectional Thoughts?

It has been quiet on here this week so far! Does everyone realize it is Sectionals this weekend? What are some of your thoughts for our Central representation in Champaign coming out of the Springfield and Sterling Sectionals??

Looking at the Sterling sectional, WOW! This time of year, my coach always said, "Now is the time." I would have to say the toughest brackets at Sterling are 119, 125, 160, 171, 189.......a lot of great wrestlers.

215 and heavy are pretty stacked also. I beleive 215 has 4 out of 5 top ranked guys in the state at sterling sectional.

To me 160 alone would be worth the price of admission with the following ranks being represented #1 #3 #4 #5 #7 #10 #11 and an HM thrown in there. Whoever comes out of this bunch has to be on the podium in Champaign don't you think? There will be some good kids watching the finals from the bleachers. Until he gets knocked off I'll stick with Reel but I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset.

Hey we never did hear who it was that you thought could have made a stir in the 171 Regional at Washington?? Now that it is past...wondering if you would enlighten us on what could have been??

BTW... I believe Reel is in a class of his own, but if he is not ready to wrestle there are guys who can definitely beat him at this sectional, but if he is on his game...My prediction noone touches him!!

The metamora 189 (3rd seed) made weight during the week for 171 but decided to stay at 189. Didn't make a difference at either weight as he didn't wrestle to seed.

Will be very surprised if Vaughn at 285 can beat Robinson from Dekalb. I think Robinson and Huebbe from LP are the top two heavys in the lower bracket and Hoelzel v Boyle winner will be sectional champ. Those are all good matchups you found for our local kids. There are alot of guys who could catch a top ranked guy and move on to state. Good luck to all wrestlers this weekend, you have all worked hard to get to this point. Forget about rankings and go out there and wrestle your match.

I think all of these matchups could happen. After reading the list a few times, it appears as if everyone is an underdog. This is not the case.

For any wrestlers that read my previous post:

I watched all of you at Regionals, and have seen many of you wrestle 6-7 times this season. You are not only great wrestlers but also fine young men. Some of your hard work and dedication has already paid off. Now it's time to make your dreams a reality.

Warm up as usual, listen to your coach, look your opponent in the eye, and shake his hand. Whatever happens next is between you and another wrestler.

Good luck Men !
