Illinois wins...Illinois wins!

With Jake Bellis's win for third place at 105 and Nick Harrison's win for seventh place at 119, Illinois clinched the Junior Greco-Roman team title.

That's because Wisconsin took a second loss in the 112-pound final, when Ryan McQuade lost in two periods to Tyler Fraley of New Jersey.

The Illinois kids are smelling blood in the water. When Fraley's hand was raised, they started chanting "0 and 2, 0 and 2." Nice.

Great story at 125. Grant LaMont of Utah, who is in the finals against Rossi Bruno of Florida, is a freshman and a first-year Cadet. He chose to go Junior instead of Cadet because of his LDS beliefs, which include not participating in athletic events on Sundays (the Cadet tournament started on Sunday). On top of that, he lost in the first round, THEN made it all the way to the finals. He was third in the state this season and had 11 losses - and here he is on the big stage.

However, the Cinderella story ended there. Bruno won 1-0, 2-0.

The "other" Rauser, Valyen, also won easily at 119. Jade is here, but not wrestling. Nobody would have lasted beyond 30 seconds against him, especially in Greco.
