TV coverage for State- Girls A BBall

Have posted this several years running but its almost uncomprehensible to me that the IHSA can get sponsors to have live coverage of the ENTIRE Girls A basketball tournament and can not even get together to show a tape of the State individual wrestling finals. Our High School webcasts all home football games and I am suprised no one can get together a web cast for the individual state - altho it is great the team state is being webcast-

Comments please!!!!

As much as this may inflame serveral people, the wrestling community just won't pony up with the cash. The Big Guy tried to do it and couldn't get people to donate either.

I think if evey team just got one donator,we would come up with more than enough money to broadcast the individual tournament statewide.

I have an easier way and doesn't cost a dime. Country Companies is the major underwriter of IHSA sports. IF you have them as an insurance company, call your agent and tell them that if they don't start supporting wrestling as well, you will pull your insurance. If you don't have them tell them one of your reasons is they don't support IHSA wrestling on TV. I guarantee enough phone calls from agents losing commissions would get wrestling added to their budget in 2006

Thumbs up

For the State Finals to be solely funded by Mr Joe Public it would need to be picked up by a cable company that service more than Chicago Metro area.

The Big Guy had good intensions but his projected marketing area was the Chicago Metro area since that is his target market for advertisement, although the city of Chicago is huge the projected and target markets were to small when you consider the State Finals is STATE WIDE. His business demographic is what it is so, I would say his show could be an additonal tape delayed way for viewers in the Chicago Metro area. Need to think bigger.

Several school districts have their how cable broadcast network, that could be a place to start and may help allow some of those in other areas to see the State Finals.

Anyone know if the IHSA is looking for a kick back for taping or televising the State Finals? Not that they seem to want to give the sport it's due coverage, but some how I am sure they would be happy to want to make a profit to be used on gymnastics/swimming or any other sport other than wrestling.

There are ways to get the state finals televised, but the question what will it take to get the wrestling public to make it happen?

I have a few ideas of how to help this project but this year is gone, so we all need to think now of what we need to be doing to make it happen for the '05-'06 State Finals.
