The final count: Illinois wins by 10

Illinois outscored Wisconsin 65-55 to win its first team title of the week as the Junior Greco-Roman tournament came to a close.

Here's what the top 10 looked like:

1. ILLINOIS, 65
2. Wisconsin, 55
3. (tie) California and Florida, 50
5. Minnesota, 43
6. Missouri, 22
7. New Jersey, 21
8. Idaho, 17
9. (tie) Michigan and Utah, 16

Note that Pennsylvania is nowhere to be found...and those team scores go down pretty low.

Dylan Ness (145) of Minnesota got the OW. Good choice.

Here's how our 16...count 'em, 16...All-Americans finished:

98 - Matt Sommers, 6th
105 - Jake Bellis, 3rd; Antonio Taylor, 8th
119 - Nick Harrison, 7th
130 - Kory Jauch, 6th
140 - Dillon Cowan, 5th
145 - Jake Gregerson, 4th
152 - Joey Moorhouse, 3rd
160 - Dylan Reel, CHAMPION
171 - Jahwon Akui, 3rd; Jeremy Fahler, 6th
189 - Khari Washington, 5th
215 - Michael Sojka, 4th; Josh Marchok, 8th
285 - West Cathcart, 4th; Casey Gushleff, 6th

And we got the Spirit Award on top of it!

I was there and it was a great showing by the Illinois Wrestlers, great wrestling and sportsmanship shown by them all.

Hats go off to this Coaching Staff, to be able to keep up with over 50 wrestlers on 23 mats was nothing short of amazing. It was a long week for these men also, from the camp at U of I to Fargo, thanks men for all your dedication to these young men.

The Spirit Award was justified, many of the young men that didn't make it into the Finals, were in the stands showing their support for the ones on the mat, Dylan Reel did state in his interview after his Championship Match, that it was with the support from these young men in the stands that pushed him to win in those last seconds. Great match Dylan.

Thanks to each and all for a great showing, keep up the hard work.
