There is 1 thing I can guarantee though about those rankings and that is that people will post on here how so & so will never see that weight and that Tom should be ranked higher than Dick and why isnt Harry ranked.
So very true, so as in past years at this time and stated earlier "a giant waste of time".

Here's where I find the futility: why base this on rankings released before last year's Regional? Why take the time to do a ranking and then not really pay attention to where returning qualifiers and champions wind up? It isn't about "A should be ahead of B because." If you are going to take the time to do an extensive set of rankings pay attention to who the kids are. Otherwise, you look silly by placing a returning state champion in the number 11 spot. That's sloppy and silly. If you are going to do this, at least pay attention to who you are ranking.

Gentlemen, it was slippery slope avoidance. I considered taking State bracket data into account, but then thought it should also include Sectional, and then it should also include Regional, and then all known head to head matches. The basic problem was lack of data in a format that would facilitate automation which would guarantee an implementation of a consistant methodology. (It was easy to cut and past last years rankings into a spreadsheet to implement the rules I stated above)

This exercise is probably valid in determining lists of the elite competitors at possible 2012-2013 weights. Maybe I should have just left off the first column. Then again, even if we had all the data in the world we would likely still argue about the first column...

So, you wanted to create a detailed list but didn't want to put the research into it. So why use numbers?

It is just a rough sketch. At least it gives us a base line to see and discuss, nice work whoever did it!
