Revised Camp
There has been a slight change in the camp due to NCAA rules the camp has been shortened to one week and is FREE there will be no charge for attending the camp please email me due to a limited amount of space.
The camp will be 2 hours a day from 12-2pm, five days a week. We will focus on applying judo techniques to wrestling. I wholeheartedly believe that judo and wrestling each other, and I want to help people experience and learn from this connection that I have embraced. I want to extend this opportunity to as many people as possible. In fact, contact me/my sister if you have any questions at all! Even though I'll be in California for awhile, I have learned so much from Illinois wrestling. I will eternally be looking for ways to give back to this great community for all the support that I have been given over the years. Thank you everyone!

It's a shame that once you become an NCAA athlete you can no longer even make money off of your name. When I was at Iowa we got payed a small sum to work the Iowa camp. My 2nd year is when they actually started cracking down on the sale of t-shirts that individual wrestlers were selling. Once you sign the papers to compete you are now owned by the ncaa. Maybe if this wasn't the case, athletes would not have to take money from boosters. If a kid is a great athlete and wants to market him/herself what is the problem with that?
The camp itself is a great idea, and is great that max wants to give back to the state of Illinois wrestling community. |

It is a shame. But it leads to Nike contracts, thats what the NCAA wants to avoid. But this will be amazing for some kids.

Still don't understand why this would be a bad thing, considering most college athletes struggle financially

I think is aimed at b ball and f ball. Can you imagine how much money someone like Bush, Tebow, or Newton could make just playing catch with high schoolers around the country? I agree though about it not making sense in this case.

It's a rule that is more or less ignored and/or covered up by a significant amount of college wrestlers/coaches. Typically college wrestlers are 'volunteering' as 'counselors' only for 'supervision', but are getting paid some cash under the table.
