Walker vs. Hightower
Walker beats Hightower in a pretty damn good match. Hightower goes for the upper body junk, and Walker is patient. He ends up with a few takedowns off this. Walker was about to get another takedown late in the match when Hightower executed the single most blatent mat fleeing that I have ever witnessed, and the ref promtly nailed Hightower with the penalty. This is the sectional finals Cordero, wrestle for crying out loud. My take.. Cordero is tough, but can't go six like he goes the first 30 seconds. He looked pretty gased to me. Walker is in awesome shape, and took it to Hightower. Walker beat Behnke (undefeated at the time) last week and Hightower (also undefeated) tonight. I'd say Walker is tough, eh?

Absolutely. Let me say this about Pat.. he has a great career ahead of him. He was at 189 until Tim went down. Pat has been giving up some size all year, and I think next year he'll be a contender. Good luck Pat, and nice job this year.

hightower
you are exactly right about cordero. In his semis match he was running all around the mat and all it got him was a penalty for pushing Behnke off the mat. Had it not been for all of the blood time in the match Hightower wouldnt have had anything left, and Behnke would have gotten him.
By the way, I dont know if you saw it, i was sitting near Hightower after his semis match. He had a bump the size of his elbow over one of his eyes (after a Behnke head-but in the semis) and besides the bump, he had quite a physical match that night, i've gotta wonder if either Behnke or Hightower were 100% afterwards, as both men were upset in their next matches |

Here come the excuses. Great wrestlers step up and win big matches. Cordero ran in Behnke's match and in Walker's match. Walker was the offense through the whole match. You can't be defensive in the state series. I've seen a lot of guys like Hightower finally have their style catch up with them come this time of year. I think that Cordero will place, but he has to get going on his feet. Against Behnke, he took 2 steps backwards right off the whistle. That my friends is stalling, and come next weekend, he'll get nailed for it every time.

Hightower
In my opinion, I don't think Hightower will place. I wasn't impressed at all.

I gotta agree with you guys that walker wrestled great last night and hightower did run around the mat alot. But does anyone else think that Walker could not have had an easier trip to the finals. Washington was the only one on the side of his braket. Hightower had to go through Benhke, who left him with a big bump over his eye. Im not making up excuses for Hightower, but if you put him on walkers side of the braket, i think things may of been different.

Well Walker had an easier road to the finals, but he beat Behnke and OConnell already this year, and I suspect that he would have beat them again if they were on his side at sectionals. Bottom line, Walker gave Behnke his first loss, gave Hightower his only loss, and gave OConnell 1 of is 2 losses coming in to the sectional. Walker has only lost twice, once at 215 and once to Mucha from Montini, no AA 189 has beat him.
