My son won freestyle state at 119 and placed third at Northern Plains at 135. I don't believe you have to place in the top 6 to enter the tournament. Anyone can enter. It is open. And you can compete in either style reguardless of what you did at your state's freestyle tournament. One year Northern Plains was the same day as freestye state so that would destroy all of those options unless things have change in the last two years.
