Former state champion passed away

Danny Evanson has died of a heart attack. Condolences to the family. I believe he was still coaching a kids program on the south side.

My thoughts & prayers are with the Evenson family. Although I didn't know Dan well, I was able to practice with him a few times during the jr. national freestyle/greco training sessions at the U of I in the mid-80's and always found him to be a tough training partner and an easy going, humble person.

There's a Dan Evenson in the UFC. Is that the same Dan who passed away?

I just came back to work for the first time in two weeks and heard about this from one of my co-workers. Terrible, terrible news and a tragic loss. My sincerest condolences to the entire Evensen family.

Dan Evensen from MMA is an immense Norweigen man and not the same one here, though they spell their last names the same.
